Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
  2. Remove the rear wheel and the tire assembly.
  3. Remove the rear rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement .
  4. Remove the upper and the lower return springs from the park brake shoes.

  5. Object Number: 891866  Size: SH
  6. Remove the park brake shoe hold down retainers.

  7. Object Number: 891901  Size: SH
  8. Remove the park brake shoes and the adjuster.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 891903  Size: SH
  1. Coat the adjuster with silicone grease at the locations in the diagram.

  2. Object Number: 891866  Size: SH
  3. Attach the park brake shoes to the back plate with the retainer springs.

  4. Object Number: 891901  Size: SH
  5. Slightly pull apart the shoes and install the adjuster.
  6. Check that the park brake shoes are properly engaged with the park brake lever.

  7. Object Number: 891917  Size: SH
  8. Install the upper and the lower return springs.
  9. Install the rear rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement .
  10. Adjust the parking brake. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
  11. Notice: Refer to Wheel Installation Caution in the Preface section.

  12. Position the wheel and the tire assembly onto the hub.
  13. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  14. Install the wheel bolts and tighten in a crisscross pattern.
  15. 9.1. Hand tighten all 5 wheel bolts.
    9.2. Use a torque wrench to tighten the wheel bolts using a crisscross pattern.

    Tighten
    Tighten the wheel bolts (initial torque) to 63 N·m (46 lb ft).

    9.3. Use a torque wrench to final tighten the wheel bolts using a crisscross pattern.

    Tighten
    Tighten the wheel bolts (final torque) to 125 N·m (92 lb ft).

  16. Lower the vehicle from the hoist.
