Cage Nut Replacement Front Seat Inner

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 886976  Size: SH
  1. Remove the front seats and carpet from the vehicle. Refer to Front Floor Panel Carpet Replacement .
  2. Route a flexible wire through the cage nut and out of the front opening between the floor pan and seat bracket.
  3. Tie a loop in the wire above the cage nut that is slightly larger than the inside diameter of the nut.
  4. Using an 8 mm (5/16 in) drill bit, drill out the 2 spot-welds retaining the cage nut to the seat bracket.
  5. Important: Before performing any drilling or welding operations, take the necessary precautions to ensure that the vehicle's interior will not be damaged by sparks or other debris.

  6. Pull the cage nut through the front opening between the floor pan and seat bracket using the wire. Discard the old cage nut.

Installation Procedure

  1. Route the wire through the new cage nut so that the looped end of the wire is below the bottom surface of the cage nut.

  2. Object Number: 886971  Size: SH
  3. Route the wire with a cage nut attached through the front opening between the floor pan and seat bracket. Continue routing the wire through the cage nut bolt hole in the top of the seat bracket.
  4. Pull the cage nut tight against the bottom of the seat bracket ensuring that the cage nut is in its original position.
  5. Perform MIG plug welds through the drill holes in the original weld locations.
  6. Remove the wire from the cage nut and seat bracket.
  7. Grind welds flush.
  8. Prime and paint the welded area.
  9. Install the front carpet and the seats in the vehicle. Refer to Front Floor Panel Carpet Replacement .

Cage Nut Replacement Front Seat Outer

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front seats and the carpet from the vehicle. Refer to Front Floor Panel Carpet Replacement .
  2. Important: Before performing any drilling or welding operations, take the necessary precautions to ensure that the vehicle's interior will not be damaged by sparks or other debris.

  3. Using an 8 mm (5/16 in) drill bit, drill out the 2 spot-welds retaining the cage nut to the seat bracket.

  4. Object Number: 886984  Size: SH
  5. Using a cutoff wheel, make three 25 mm (1 in) cuts as shown in the illustration.

  6. Object Number: 886986  Size: SH
  7. Using a flat-bladed screwdriver, pry up the bottom edge of the flap.
  8. Remove the cage nut.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 886978  Size: SH
  1. Route a flexible wire through the new cage nut. Tie a loop in the wire below the bottom surface of the cage nut ensuring that the loop in the wire is slightly larger than the inside diameter of the nut.

  2. Object Number: 886987  Size: SH
  3. Route the wire with the cage nut attached through the cage nut bolt hole in the top of the seat bracket.

  4. Object Number: 886981  Size: SH
  5. Push the flap back down to its original position.
  6. Tack weld the lower edges of the flap.
  7. Pull the cage nut tight against the bottom of the seat bracket ensuring that the cage nut is in its original position.
  8. Perform MIG plug welds through the drill holes in the original weld locations.
  9. MIG weld all the remaining sections of the flap.
  10. Remove the wire from the cage nut and the seat bracket.
  11. Grind the welds flush.
  12. Prime and paint the welded area.
  13. Install the front carpet and seats in the vehicle. Refer to Front Floor Panel Carpet Replacement .
