Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor Replacement Coupe

Removal Procedure

Notice: Do not use sensor if dropped from any height.


    Object Number: 864140  Size: SH
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System .
  2. Remove inside door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement in Doors.
  3. Peel back the water deflector.
  4. Disconnect the SIS connector.
  5. Loosen the SIS fasteners.
  6. Slide the sensor assembly out of the slotted holes.
  7. Remove the SIS.

Installation Procedure

  1. Loosen the fasteners on the SIS assembly.
  2. Position the SIS in the slotted holes in the door structure (bolt head facing inboard).
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Secure the fasteners.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the SIS Fasteners to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Connect the SIS connector and insert the connector position assurance (CPA) to secure.
  7. Reposition the water deflector.
  8. Install the inside door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement in Doors.
  9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System .

Removal Procedure

Notice: Do not use sensor if dropped from any height.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System .
  2. Remove the B-pillar trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement in Doors.
  3. Disconnect the SIS connector.
  4. Remove the SIS bracket fasteners.
  5. Remove the SIS bracket assembly (sensor, bracket and pigtail assembly).

Installation Procedure

  1. Place the fasteners into SIS bracket assembly.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Drive the fasteners to secure to B-pillar.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the SIS Fasteners to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Connect the SIS connector and insert the connector position assurance (CPA) to secure.
  6. Install the trim panel on the `B-pillar. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement in the Doors section.
  7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System .
