Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 926611  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect and remove the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement.
  2. Remove and position aside the underhood electrical center. Refer to Underhood Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement .
  3. Remove the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement.
  4. Disconnect the coolant surge hose from the surge tank and position aside.
  5. Disconnect the master cylinder fluid level sensor electrical connector.
  6. Remove the master cylinder mounting nuts. Do NOT disconnect the brake pipes from the master cylinder.
  7. Without disconnecting the brake pipes, remove the bolts from the brake delay valve, if equipped. Refer to Brake Delay Valve Replacement.
  8. Carefully pull the master cylinder away from the vacuum booster and position aside.
  9. Disconnect the power brake booster vacuum sensor electrical connector, if equipped.
  10. Disconnect the vacuum booster check valve and hose assembly from the booster. Refer to Vacuum Brake Booster Check Valve and/or Hose Replacement.

  12. Remove the transaxle control module (TCM) and position over engine.
  13. Remove the brake modulator assembly, if equipped. Refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Assembly Replacement .

  14. Object Number: 931345  Size: SH
  15. Remove the brake modulator valve bracket, if equipped. Refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bracket Replacement .

  16. Object Number: 926065  Size: SH
  17. Remove the left side instrument panel insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side.
  18. Remove the brake booster push rod-to-brake pedal retaining clip.
  19. Remove the foam washer from the brake pedal assembly.

  20. Object Number: 925895  Size: SH
  21. Remove the brake booster mounting nuts.
  22. Important: Ensure that the foam insulator on the mounting surface of the brake booster withdraws with the booster.

  23. Disengage the brake booster from the front of dash and the brake pedal bracket. Maneuver the booster toward the center of the vehicle in order to ease removal.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 926065  Size: SH
  1. Install the foam insulator the vacuum brake booster.
  2. Install the brake booster to the vehicle.
  3. Install, but do not tighten, the booster mounting nuts.
  4. Lightly lubricate the booster push rod pivot pin on the brake pedal with silicone lubricant.
  5. Install the booster push rod to the pivot pin on the brake pedal.
  6. Install the foam washer to the pivot pin.
  7. Install the brake booster push rod retaining clip.
  8. Install the left side instrument panel insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side.
  9. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  10. Fully seat the brake booster to the front of dash and the brake pedal assembly.
  11. Tighten the vacuum brake booster mounting nuts.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  13. Install the brake modulator valve bracket, if equipped. Refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bracket Replacement .
  14. Install the brake modulator assembly, if equipped. Refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Assembly Replacement.

  15. Object Number: 926611  Size: SH
  16. Install the vacuum booster check valve and hose assembly to the booster.
  17. Connect the power brake booster vacuum sensor electrical connector, if equipped.
  18. Reposition and install the master cylinder to the booster. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement.
  19. Reposition and install the brake delay valve, if equipped. Refer to Brake Delay Valve Replacement.

  21. Install the TCM to the bracket.

  22. Object Number: 898638  Size: SH
  23. Install the coolant surge hose and clamp to the surge tank.
  24. Install the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement.
  25. Install the underhood electrical center. Refer to Underhood Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement.
  26. Install and connect the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement.
  27. If necessary, bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.
