Folding Top Side Rail Replacement Rear

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 214566  Size: SH
  1. Remove the folding top from the vehicle and place the top on a clean flat surface. Refer to Folding Top Replacement .
  2. Remove the screws attaching the headliner to the rear side rail.
  3. Remove the screw attaching the headliner elastic strap to the rear side rail.
  4. Remove the screw attaching the glare cover elastic strap to the rear side rail.
  5. Remove the defogger wire from the rear side rail.

  7. Remove the weatherstrip and retainer from the rear side rail.
  8. Drill out the rivets attaching the top flap to the rear side rail.
  9. Lift the flap and drill out the rivet attaching the tension cable flag.
  10. Drill out the rivet attaching the top cover to the bottom of the rear side rail.

  12. Remove the protective pad from the number five bow weatherstrip attaching nuts.
  13. Remove the number five bow weatherstrip attaching nuts.
  14. Peel the weatherstrip from the bottom of the rear side rail and from the end of the number five bow.
  15. It is not necessary to completely remove the weatherstrip.

  16. Peel the top cover and the protective cover from the bottom of the rear side rail and the front edge of the 5 bow.
  17. Drill out the rivets attaching the protective cover elastic strap from the rear side rail.
  18. Drill out the rivet attaching the 5 bow extension bracket to the rear side rail.
  19. Remove the screws attaching the rear side rail extension bracket to the five bow.
  20. Remove the screws attaching the rear side rail to the center side rail.
  21. Remove the rear side rail.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 214592  Size: SH
  1. Install the screws attaching the center side rail to the rear side rail.
  2. Install the screws attaching the extension bracket to the five bow (5).
  3. Rivet the number five bow to the rear side rail extension bracket.
  4. Make sure both sides of the rivet are flat.

  5. Glue the protector to the bottom of the rear side rail, to the extension bracket, and to the five bow.
  6. Rivet the protector elastic strap to the rear side rail.

  8. Glue the top cover to the bottom of the rear side rail and to the side of the 5 bow.
  9. Rivet the top material to the bottom of the rear side rail.
  10. Rivet the tension cable flag to the rear side rail. The rolled side of the flag faces forward.
  11. Rivet the top flap to the rear side rail.

  13. Install the retainer and seal to the rear side rail. Refer to Folding Top Weatherstrip Retainer Replacement .
  14. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  15. Install the screw attaching the headliner elastic strap to the rear side rail.
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the headliner attaching screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).

  17. Install the screws attaching the headliner to the rear side rail.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the headliner attaching screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).

  19. Attach the defogger wire to the rear side rail.

  21. Install the folding top to the vehicle. Refer to Folding Top Replacement .
