Folding Top Roof Bow Replacement Number 1 Bow
Removal Procedure
- Position the top with
the number one bow up.
- Mark the location of the number one bow to the front side rails.
- Remove the fasteners attaching the right and left front side rail
weatherstrips to the number one bow.
- Remove the seal compression
panel.
- Mark the location of the top material where it wraps over the
number one bow to aid in installation.
- Remove the staples attaching the top material to the number one
bow.
- Remove the staples attaching the tension cable bracket right and
left flap.
- Remove the staples attaching the headliner to the number one bow.
- Remove the staples attaching
the stay pads to the number one bow.
- Remove the screws attaching the headliner to the number one bow.
- Remove the speed nuts attaching the headliner to the number one
bow.
- Remove the screws attaching the tension cables to the number one
bow.
- Mark the location of the number one bow to the front side rails.
- Remove the nuts attaching the number one bow to the front side
rails.
- Remove the number one bow.
Installation Procedure
- Position the number one
bow to the marks on the front side rails with the tension cables through the
corner slots.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the nuts
attaching the number one bow (1) to the front side rails.
Tighten
Tighten the number one bow to side rail nuts to 14 N·m
(10 lb ft).
- Install the screws attaching the tension cables.
- Attach the headliner to the number one bow with speed nuts.
- Install the screws attaching the headliner to the number one bow.
Tighten
Tighten headliner attaching screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).
- Staple the tension cable flaps to the number one bow (1).
- Staple the stay pads to the number one bow.
- Staple the top material to the number one bow.
- Install the seal compression
panel.
Tighten
Tighten the seal compression panel screws to 3 N·m (26 lb in).
- Install the fasteners attaching the front side rail weatherstrips
to the number one bow.
- Close and latch the top.
Folding Top Roof Bow Replacement Number 2 Bow
Removal Procedure
- Position the top with
the number one bow up.
- Mark the location of the number one bow to the front side rail.
- Remove the fasteners attaching
the right and left front side rail weatherstrips to the number one bow.
- Remove the seal compression panel.
- Mark the location of the top material where it wraps over the
number one bow to aid in installation.
- Remove the staples attaching the top material to the number one
bow.
- Remove the staples from the tension cable bracket flaps.
- Remove the screws attaching the tension cables to the number one
bow.
- Remove the screws attaching
the headliner to the number one bow (1).
- Remove the speed nuts attaching the headliner to the number one
bow.
- Fold the top material back over the number two bow (2).
- Remove the staples attaching the stay pad to the number two bow.
- Remove the screws attaching the headliner to the number two bow.
- Remove the screws attaching
the number 2 bow to the main control link bracket (2).
- Remove the number two bow.
Installation Procedure

attaching the number two bow to the main control link bracket (2).
Tighten
Tighten the roof bow to main control link bracket screws to 13 N·m
(10 lb in).
- Close and latch the convertible
top.
- Staple the stay pad to the number two bow.
- Open the convertible top and position the number one and five
bows up.
- Install the screws attaching the headliner to the number two bow
(2).
Tighten
Tighten the headliner attaching screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).
- Install the screws attaching the tension cables.
- Attach the headliner to the number one bow (1) with speed nuts.
- Install the screws attaching
the headliner to the number one bow.
Tighten
Tighten the headliner attaching screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).
- Staple the tension cable flap to the number one bow.
- Staple the top material to the number one bow.
- Install the seal compression
panel.
Tighten
Tighten the seal compression panel screws to 3 N·m (26 lb in).
- Install the fastener attaching the front side rail weatherstrip
to the number one bow.
- Close and latch the top.
Folding Top Roof Bow Replacement Number 3 Bow
Removal Procedure
Start at the rear of the folding top and work your way forward.
- Perform all steps necessary to remove the number four bow (4) . Refer to
Folding Top Roof Bow Replacement
.
- Remove the screws attaching the headliner to the number three bow (3).
- Remove the staples attaching the stay pad to the number three bow.
- Remove
the screws attaching the number three bow to the main control link bracket (3).
- Remove the number three bow.
Installation Procedure

- Install the screws attaching the number three bow to the main control link
bracket (3).
Tighten
Tighten roof bow to the main control link bracket
screws to 13 N·m (10 lb ft).
- Staple the stay pad to the number three bow (3).
- Install the screws attaching the headliner to the number three bow.
Tighten
Tighten the headliner attaching screws to 2 N·m
(17 lb in).
- Install the number four bow (4). Refer to

Folding Top Roof Bow Replacement Number 4 Bow
Removal Procedure
- Remove the folding top
and place the top on a clean flat surface.
- Remove the protective
pads from the studs at the ends of the number five bow weatherstrip.
- Remove the nuts from the number five bow weatherstrip.
- Remove the number five bow weatherstrip.
- Drill out the rivets attaching the top material to the bottom
of the right and the left rear side rails.
- Pull the top material from the bottom of the rear side rails and
from the ends of the number five bow.
- Mark the position of the
top material along the edge where it wraps over the number five bow (5) to
aid in installation.
- Remove the staples attaching the top material to the number five
bow.
- Fold the material forward over the number three bow (3).
- Remove the screws attaching the headliner to the number four bow
(4).
- Remove the staples attaching the stay pad to the number four bow.
- Turn the top over.
- Remove the screws attaching the glare cover elastic straps.
- Remove the screws attaching the headlining elastic straps to the
number five bow.
- Remove the screws attaching the headlining elastic straps to the
rear side rails.
- Remove the screws attaching the headlining to the rear side rails.
- Remove the screws attaching the rear window support elastic straps
to the number four bow (4).
- Remove the screws attaching
the number four bow to the main control link bracket (4).
- Remove the number four bow.
Installation Procedure

- Install the screws
attaching the number four bow to the main control link bracket (4).
Tighten
Tighten the roof bow to main control link bracket screws to 13 N·m
(10 lb ft).
- Position the top right
side up and in a fully raised position.
- Staple the stay pad to the number four bow (4).
- Install the screws attaching the headliner to the number 4 bow.
Tighten
Tighten the headliner attaching screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).
- Turn the top over.
- Install the rear window support elastic straps to the number four
bow.
Tighten
Tighten the elastic strap attaching screws to 2 N·m 17 lb in).
- Install the staples attaching the top material to the number five
bow.
- Glue the top material
to the bottom of the right and left side rails.
- Install the rivets attaching the top material to the bottom of
the right and left rear side rails.
- Install the screws attaching the headlining elastic straps to
the number five bow
Tighten
Tighten the elastic strap attaching screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).
- Install the screws attaching the headlining to the rear side rails.
Tighten
Tighten the headlining attaching screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).
- Install the screws attaching the ends of the glare cover to the
number five bow.
Tighten
Tighten the glare cover screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).
- Install the number 5 bow
weatherstrip.
Tighten
Tighten the number five bow weatherstrip nuts to 3.5 N·m
(31 lb in).
- Install the protective pad to the weatherstrip studs.
- Install the folding top.
Folding Top Roof Bow Replacement Number 5 Bow
Removal Procedure
- Remove the folding top
and place the top on a clean flat surface.
- Remove the protective
pads from the studs at the ends of the number five bow weatherstrip.
- Remove the nuts from the studs.
- Remove the number 5 bow weatherstrip.
- Remove the rear side rail
seal and retainer.
- Drill out the rivets attaching the top flaps to the rear side
rails.
- Pull the top material from the rear side rails.
- Drill out the rivets attaching the number five bow protector elastic
straps to the rear side rails.
- Drill out the rivets attaching the top material to the bottom
of the rear side rails.
- Pull the top material
from the bottom of the rear side rail and from the front of the number five
bow (5).
- Mark the position of the top material along the edge where it
wraps over the number five bow to aid in installation.
- Remove the staples attaching the top to the number five bow.
- Mark the edge of the stay pad where it wraps over the number five
bow to aid in installation.
- Remove the staples attaching the stay pad to the number five bow.
- Remove the screw attaching the ends of the glare cover to the
number five bow (5).
- Remove the screw attaching
the right and left main control link rod end (6) to the number five bow (7).
- Peel the protector from the right and left outer ends of the number
five bow and the bottom of the rear side rails to expose the rivet.
- Drill out the rivet attaching the right and the left rear side
rail extension brackets to the five bow.
- Remove the screws attaching the rear side rail extension bracket
to the five bow.
- Remove the number five bow.
Installation Procedure

- Install the screws
attaching the rear side rail (8) extension brackets to the number five
bow (7).
Tighten
Tighten the rear side rail to the number five bow bracket screws
to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).
- Install the screws attaching the right and left main control link
rod end (6) to the number five bow (7).
Tighten
Tighten the main control link rod end to number five bow screws to 15 N·m
(11 lb ft).
- Install the rivets attaching
the rear side rail brackets to the five bow (5).
- Make sure both sides of the rivet are flat.
- Staple the protector to the number five bow.
- Glue the protector to the outer ends of the number five bow and
the bottom of the rear side rail.
- Install the screws attaching the right and left ends of the glare
cover to the number 5 bow.
Tighten
Tighten the glare cover screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).
- Install the staples attaching the stay pad to the number 5 bow.
- Staple the top material to the number five bow.
- Glue the top material
to the bottom of the rear side rail and to the ends of the number five bow.
- Install the rivet attaching the top material to the bottom of
the rear side rail.
- Install the rivets attaching the number five bow protector elastic
straps to the rear side rails.
Make sure both sides of the rivets are flat.
- Fold the top flap over the rear side rail and rivet the top flap
to the rail.
- Install the rear side rail seal retainer and the seal. Refer to
Folding Top Weatherstrip Retainer Replacement
.
- Install the number 5 bow
weatherstrip.
Tighten
Tighten the number 5 bow weatherstrip nuts to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).
- Install the protective pad to the weatherstrip studs.
- Install the folding top.
