Folding Top Roof Bow Replacement Number 1 Bow

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 289910  Size: SH
  1. Position the top with the number one bow up.
  2. Mark the location of the number one bow to the front side rails.
  3. Remove the fasteners attaching the right and left front side rail weatherstrips to the number one bow.

  4. Object Number: 289908  Size: SH
  5. Remove the seal compression panel.
  6. Mark the location of the top material where it wraps over the number one bow to aid in installation.
  7. Remove the staples attaching the top material to the number one bow.
  8. Remove the staples attaching the tension cable bracket right and left flap.
  9. Remove the staples attaching the headliner to the number one bow.

  11. Remove the staples attaching the stay pads to the number one bow.
  12. Remove the screws attaching the headliner to the number one bow.
  13. Remove the speed nuts attaching the headliner to the number one bow.
  14. Remove the screws attaching the tension cables to the number one bow.
  15. Mark the location of the number one bow to the front side rails.
  16. Remove the nuts attaching the number one bow to the front side rails.
  17. Remove the number one bow.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 214592  Size: SH
  1. Position the number one bow to the marks on the front side rails with the tension cables through the corner slots.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the nuts attaching the number one bow (1) to the front side rails.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the number one bow to side rail nuts to 14 N·m (10 lb ft).

  5. Install the screws attaching the tension cables.
  6. Attach the headliner to the number one bow with speed nuts.
  7. Install the screws attaching the headliner to the number one bow.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten headliner attaching screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).

  9. Staple the tension cable flaps to the number one bow (1).
  10. Staple the stay pads to the number one bow.
  11. Staple the top material to the number one bow.

  12. Object Number: 289908  Size: SH
  13. Install the seal compression panel.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the seal compression panel screws to 3 N·m (26 lb in).

  15. Install the fasteners attaching the front side rail weatherstrips to the number one bow.
  16. Close and latch the top.

Folding Top Roof Bow Replacement Number 2 Bow

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 289910  Size: SH
  1. Position the top with the number one bow up.
  2. Mark the location of the number one bow to the front side rail.

  3. Object Number: 289908  Size: SH
  4. Remove the fasteners attaching the right and left front side rail weatherstrips to the number one bow.
  5. Remove the seal compression panel.
  6. Mark the location of the top material where it wraps over the number one bow to aid in installation.
  7. Remove the staples attaching the top material to the number one bow.
  8. Remove the staples from the tension cable bracket flaps.
  9. Remove the screws attaching the tension cables to the number one bow.

  11. Remove the screws attaching the headliner to the number one bow (1).
  12. Remove the speed nuts attaching the headliner to the number one bow.
  13. Fold the top material back over the number two bow (2).
  14. Remove the staples attaching the stay pad to the number two bow.
  15. Remove the screws attaching the headliner to the number two bow.

  16. Object Number: 311345  Size: SH
  17. Remove the screws attaching the number 2 bow to the main control link bracket (2).
  18. Remove the number two bow.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 311345  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the screws attaching the number two bow to the main control link bracket (2).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the roof bow to main control link bracket screws to 13 N·m (10 lb in).

  3. Close and latch the convertible top.
  4. Staple the stay pad to the number two bow.
  5. Open the convertible top and position the number one and five bows up.
  6. Install the screws attaching the headliner to the number two bow (2).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the headliner attaching screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).

  8. Install the screws attaching the tension cables.
  9. Attach the headliner to the number one bow (1) with speed nuts.

  10. Object Number: 289904  Size: SH
  11. Install the screws attaching the headliner to the number one bow.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the headliner attaching screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).

  13. Staple the tension cable flap to the number one bow.
  14. Staple the top material to the number one bow.

  15. Object Number: 289908  Size: SH
  16. Install the seal compression panel.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the seal compression panel screws to 3 N·m (26 lb in).

  18. Install the fastener attaching the front side rail weatherstrip to the number one bow.
  19. Close and latch the top.

Folding Top Roof Bow Replacement Number 3 Bow

Removal Procedure

Start at the rear of the folding top and work your way forward.


    Object Number: 214592  Size: SH
  1. Perform all steps necessary to remove the number four bow (4) . Refer to Folding Top Roof Bow Replacement .
  2. Remove the screws attaching the headliner to the number three bow (3).
  3. Remove the staples attaching the stay pad to the number three bow.

  4. Object Number: 311345  Size: SH
  5. Remove the screws attaching the number three bow to the main control link bracket (3).
  6. Remove the number three bow.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the screws attaching the number three bow to the main control link bracket (3).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten roof bow to the main control link bracket screws to 13 N·m (10 lb ft).

  3. Staple the stay pad to the number three bow (3).
  4. Install the screws attaching the headliner to the number three bow.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the headliner attaching screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).

  6. Install the number four bow (4). Refer to Folding Top Roof Bow Replacement .

Folding Top Roof Bow Replacement Number 4 Bow

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 214138  Size: SH
  1. Remove the folding top and place the top on a clean flat surface.

  2. Object Number: 289901  Size: SH
  3. Remove the protective pads from the studs at the ends of the number five bow weatherstrip.
  4. Remove the nuts from the number five bow weatherstrip.
  5. Remove the number five bow weatherstrip.
  6. Drill out the rivets attaching the top material to the bottom of the right and the left rear side rails.
  7. Pull the top material from the bottom of the rear side rails and from the ends of the number five bow.

  9. Mark the position of the top material along the edge where it wraps over the number five bow (5) to aid in installation.
  10. Remove the staples attaching the top material to the number five bow.
  11. Fold the material forward over the number three bow (3).
  12. Remove the screws attaching the headliner to the number four bow (4).
  13. Remove the staples attaching the stay pad to the number four bow.
  14. Turn the top over.
  15. Remove the screws attaching the glare cover elastic straps.
  16. Remove the screws attaching the headlining elastic straps to the number five bow.
  17. Remove the screws attaching the headlining elastic straps to the rear side rails.
  18. Remove the screws attaching the headlining to the rear side rails.
  19. Remove the screws attaching the rear window support elastic straps to the number four bow (4).

  21. Remove the screws attaching the number four bow to the main control link bracket (4).
  22. Remove the number four bow.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 311345  Size: SH

  1. Install the screws attaching the number four bow to the main control link bracket (4).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the roof bow to main control link bracket screws to 13 N·m (10 lb ft).

  3. Position the top right side up and in a fully raised position.
  4. Staple the stay pad to the number four bow (4).
  5. Install the screws attaching the headliner to the number 4 bow.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the headliner attaching screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).

  7. Turn the top over.
  8. Install the rear window support elastic straps to the number four bow.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the elastic strap attaching screws to 2 N·m 17 lb in).

  10. Install the staples attaching the top material to the number five bow.

  11. Object Number: 214128  Size: SH
  12. Glue the top material to the bottom of the right and left side rails.
  13. Install the rivets attaching the top material to the bottom of the right and left rear side rails.
  14. Install the screws attaching the headlining elastic straps to the number five bow
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the elastic strap attaching screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).

  16. Install the screws attaching the headlining to the rear side rails.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the headlining attaching screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).

  18. Install the screws attaching the ends of the glare cover to the number five bow.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the glare cover screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).


    Object Number: 289901  Size: SH
  20. Install the number 5 bow weatherstrip.
  21. Tighten
    Tighten the number five bow weatherstrip nuts to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).

  22. Install the protective pad to the weatherstrip studs.

  23. Object Number: 214138  Size: SH
  24. Install the folding top.

Folding Top Roof Bow Replacement Number 5 Bow

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 214138  Size: SH
  1. Remove the folding top and place the top on a clean flat surface.

  2. Object Number: 289901  Size: SH
  3. Remove the protective pads from the studs at the ends of the number five bow weatherstrip.
  4. Remove the nuts from the studs.
  5. Remove the number 5 bow weatherstrip.

  6. Object Number: 214128  Size: SH
  7. Remove the rear side rail seal and retainer.
  8. Drill out the rivets attaching the top flaps to the rear side rails.
  9. Pull the top material from the rear side rails.
  10. Drill out the rivets attaching the number five bow protector elastic straps to the rear side rails.
  11. Drill out the rivets attaching the top material to the bottom of the rear side rails.

  12. Object Number: 214592  Size: SH
  13. Pull the top material from the bottom of the rear side rail and from the front of the number five bow (5).
  14. Mark the position of the top material along the edge where it wraps over the number five bow to aid in installation.
  15. Remove the staples attaching the top to the number five bow.
  16. Mark the edge of the stay pad where it wraps over the number five bow to aid in installation.
  17. Remove the staples attaching the stay pad to the number five bow.
  18. Remove the screw attaching the ends of the glare cover to the number five bow (5).

  19. Object Number: 311345  Size: SH
  20. Remove the screw attaching the right and left main control link rod end (6) to the number five bow (7).
  21. Peel the protector from the right and left outer ends of the number five bow and the bottom of the rear side rails to expose the rivet.
  22. Drill out the rivet attaching the right and the left rear side rail extension brackets to the five bow.
  23. Remove the screws attaching the rear side rail extension bracket to the five bow.
  24. Remove the number five bow.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 311345  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the screws attaching the rear side rail (8) extension brackets to the number five bow (7).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the rear side rail to the number five bow bracket screws to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).

  3. Install the screws attaching the right and left main control link rod end (6) to the number five bow (7).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the main control link rod end to number five bow screws to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  5. Install the rivets attaching the rear side rail brackets to the five bow (5).
  6. Make sure both sides of the rivet are flat.
  7. Staple the protector to the number five bow.
  8. Glue the protector to the outer ends of the number five bow and the bottom of the rear side rail.
  9. Install the screws attaching the right and left ends of the glare cover to the number 5 bow.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the glare cover screws to 2 N·m (17 lb in).

  11. Install the staples attaching the stay pad to the number 5 bow.
  12. Staple the top material to the number five bow.

  13. Object Number: 214128  Size: SH
  14. Glue the top material to the bottom of the rear side rail and to the ends of the number five bow.
  15. Install the rivet attaching the top material to the bottom of the rear side rail.
  16. Install the rivets attaching the number five bow protector elastic straps to the rear side rails.
  17. Make sure both sides of the rivets are flat.

  18. Fold the top flap over the rear side rail and rivet the top flap to the rail.
  19. Install the rear side rail seal retainer and the seal. Refer to Folding Top Weatherstrip Retainer Replacement .

  20. Object Number: 289901  Size: SH
  21. Install the number 5 bow weatherstrip.
  22. Tighten
    Tighten the number 5 bow weatherstrip nuts to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).

  23. Install the protective pad to the weatherstrip studs.
  24. Install the folding top.
