Schematic Reference: Wiper/Washer Schematics

DEFINITION: The windshield wipers operate at low speed when the windshield wiper/washer switch is turned to the high speed position.

  1. Turn the ignition on.
  2. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch to the high speed position.

Do the windshield wipers operate at high speed?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper/washer switch pigtail connector.
  2. Test the resistance through the windshield wiper/washer switch from the accessory voltage supply circuit to the windshield wiper motor high speed signal circuit.
  3. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch to the high speed position.

Is the resistance within the specified values?

0-2 ohms

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector.
  2. Test and repair the windshield wiper motor high speed signal circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the windshield wiper/washer switch. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement .
