  1. Inspect for technical service bulletins.
  2. Perform the Antenna Diagnostic Check. Refer to Antenna Diagnostic Check .
  3. Make any needed repairs.
  4. Retest for the complaint condition.

Contact the customer for an explanation of the complaint condition.

Is the complaint verified?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the on position.
  2. Inspect the vehicle for aftermarket electronic equipment.

Is any aftermarket equipment present?

Go to Step 5

  1. Inspect the aftermarket electronic equipment for proper installation.
  2. Refer to Radio/Audio System Check .

Were the GM guidelines followed?

  1. Inspect the integrity of the ignition system such as proper spark plug wiring or no misfiring. Refer to Distributor Ignition (DI) System Description inEngine Electrical.
  2. Inspect the integrity of the engine compartment grounds.
  3. Inspect for malfunctioning relays, solenoids, or other components which may cause poor reception.
  4. Repair any necessary repairs.

Remove the fuses and circuit breakers one at a time until the complaint condition is eliminated.

Is the complaint condition present?

Repair the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .

  1. Mark the complaint fuse or fuses.
  2. Reinstall all the fuses.
  3. Reinstall all the circuit breakers. Refer to Fuse Block Schematics in order to identify all systems and components powered by the complaint fuses and circuit breakers.

Was the complaint causing component identified?

Repair the ground integrity of the complaint causing component.
