Was the defogger System Check performed?

Go to Step 2

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
  2. Press the rear defogger switch to the ON position.
  3. Back probe the rear defogger switch using a J 35616-200 unpowered test lamp between cavity 2 of the rear defogger switch connector and ground.

Did the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 4

Replace the rear defogger switch. Refer to Rear Window Defogger Switch Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Defogger System Check

  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the RED/WHT connector to the rear defogger.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
  4. Press the rear defogger switch to ON.
  5. Connect a J 35616-200 unpowered test lamp between the RED/WHT cavity of the rear defogger connector and ground.

Did the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 5

  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the BLK wire connector from the rear defogger.
  3. Using a J 39200 Digital Multimeter, test for continuity between the BLK wire connector of the rear defogger and ground .

Is there continuity?

--

Go to Step 7

Repair the open RED/WHT wire between the rear defogger connector and cavity 2 of the rear defogger switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Defogger System Check

Repair the rear defogger. Refer to Grid Line Repair .

Is the repair complete?

Repair the open in the BLK wire connector of the rear defogger and ground G400. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
