Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 652086  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  3. Remove the right and the left instrument panel (I/P) access hole covers. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement .
  4. Remove the I/P insulators. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side and to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  5. Remove the front carpet retainers. Refer to Front Carpet Retainer Replacement in Interior Trim.
  6. Remove the windshield upper garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
  7. Remove the I/P upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  8. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  9. Remove the steering column filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement .
  10. Disconnect the data link connector.

  12. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  13. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  14. Remove the hood release handle. Refer to Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement in Body Front End.
  15. Remove the I/P cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement .
  16. Remove the I/P cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  17. Remove the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement .
  18. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  19. Remove the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement in HVAC Systems - Automatic and Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual.
  20. Remove the I/P lighter. Refer to Cigar Lighter Housing Replacement - Instrument Panel .
  21. Remove the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition and Start Switch Replacement .
  22. Remove the hazard warning and cruise control switch. Refer to Cruise Control and Hazard Warning Switch Replacement .
  23. Remove the switch bank. Refer to Instrument Panel Multifunction Switch Assembly Replacement .
  24. Remove the air temperature sensor. Refer to Inside Air Temperature Sensor Replacement in HVAC Systems - Automatic.
  25. Remove the I/P compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  26. Remove the I/P compartment lamp switch. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Switch Replacement .
  27. Reposition the fuse block.
  28. Remove the driver side I/P trim pad bolts from the hinge pillar.

  30. Remove the passenger side I/P trim pad bolts from the hinge pillar.

  32. Remove the I/P trim pad bolts from the cluster pocket.
  33. Remove the I/P trim pad bolts near the windshield.
  34. Reposition the I/P wiring harness.
  35. Remove the I/P trim pad from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 326084  Size: SH
  1. Align the I/P trim pad to the vehicle.
  2. Reposition the I/P wiring harness.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the I/P trim pad bolts near the windshield.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  6. Install the I/P trim pad bolts to the cluster pocket.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  8. Install the passenger side I/P trim pad bolts to the hinge pillar.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  10. Install the driver side I/P trim pad bolts to the hinge pillar.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  12. Install the fuse block.
  13. Install the I/P compartment lamp switch. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Switch Replacement .
  14. Install the I/P compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  15. Install the air temperature sensor. Refer to Inside Air Temperature Sensor Replacement in HVAC Systems - Automatic.
  16. Install the switch bank. Refer to Instrument Panel Multifunction Switch Assembly Replacement .
  17. Install the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition and Start Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  18. Install the hazard warning and cruise control switch. Refer to Cruise Control and Hazard Warning Switch Replacement .
  19. Install the I/P lighter. Refer to Cigar Lighter Housing Replacement - Instrument Panel .
  20. Install the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement in HVAC Systems - Automatic or to Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual.
  21. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  22. Install the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement .
  23. Install the I/P cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  24. Install the I/P cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement .
  25. Install the hood release handle. Refer to Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement in Body Front End.
  26. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  27. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  28. Install the data link connector.
  29. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  30. Install the steering column filler. Refer to Ignition and Start Switch Replacement .
  31. Install the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  32. Install the I/P upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  33. Install the windshield side upper garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
  34. Install the I/P insulators. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side and to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  35. Install the front carpet retainers. Refer to Front Carpet Retainer Replacement in Interior Trim.
  36. Install the right and the left I/P access hole covers. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement .
  37. Enable SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
  38. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
