Cylinder Head Replacement Right Side
Removal Procedure
- Remove the intake manifold.

Intake Manifold Replacement

- Remove the engine wiring harness clip bolt from the cylinder head.
- Remove the transmission
fill tube bolt from the cylinder head.
- Remove the engine coolant air bleed pipe from the engine. Refer
to
Vapor Vent Pipe Replacement
.
- Remove the right side exhaust manifold. Refer to
Exhaust Manifold Replacement
.
- Remove the valve rocker arms, pedestals and pushrods. Refer to
Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement
.
- Remove the right side
cylinder head. Refer to
Cylinder Head Removal
.
Installation Procedure
- Install the right side
cylinder head. Refer to
Cylinder Head Installation
.
- Install the valve rocker arms, pedestals and pushrods. Refer to
Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement
.
- Install the right side exhaust manifold. Refer to
Exhaust Manifold Replacement
.
- Install the engine coolant air bleed pipe to the engine. Refer
to
Vapor Vent Pipe Replacement
.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the transmission fill tube bolt to the cylinder head.
Tighten
Tighten the transmission fill tube bolt to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).
- Install the engine wiring
harness clip bolt to the rear of the cylinder head.
Tighten
Tighten the engine wiring harness clip bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the intake manifold. Refer to
Intake Manifold Replacement
.
- Inspect for any leaks.
Cylinder Head Replacement Left Side
Removal Procedure
- Remove the intake manifold.

- Remove the engine coolant air bleed pipe. Refer to

- Remove the power steering pump. Refer to
Power Steering Pump Replacement
in Steering.
- Remove the power steering pump bracket.
- Remove the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to
Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement
.
- Remove the left side exhaust manifold. Refer to
Exhaust Manifold Replacement
.
- Remove the valve rocker arms, pedestal, and valve pushrods. Refer
to
Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement
.
- Remove the harness ground
bolts (2 and 3) from the cylinder head.
- Remove the left side cylinder
head. Refer to
Cylinder Head Removal
.
Installation Procedure
- Install the left side
cylinder head. Refer to
Cylinder Head Installation
.

Tighten
Tighten the harness ground bolts (2 and 3) to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the valve rocker arms, pedestal, and valve pushrods. Refer

- Install the left side exhaust manifold. Refer to
Exhaust Manifold Replacement
.
- Install the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to
Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement
.
- Install the power steering
pump bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the power steering pump bracket bolt to 50 N·m
(37 lb ft).
- Install the power steering pump. Refer to
Power Steering Pump Replacement
in Steering.
- Install the engine coolant air bleed pipe. Refer to
Vapor Vent Pipe Replacement
.
- Install the intake manifold. Refer to
Intake Manifold Replacement
.
- Inspect for any leaks.
