Removal Procedure
Caution: This vehicle has energy-absorbing foam blocks for side impact protection.
To help avoid personal injury in a collision, foam blocks that are damaged,
or removed during repairs must be replaced. Failure to replace foam blocks
that are removed can violate federal law.
- Open the door.
- Remove the trim panel. Refer to

- Remove the water deflector. Refer to
Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement
.
- Remove clip holding energy
absorber in position.
- Grasp the energy absorber with your hands and pull it away from
the door.
- Discard the old energy absorber.
Installation Procedure
- Clean the door of any remaining adhesive. Use isopropyl alcohol.
- Remove the protective tape from the adhesive strip on the back
side of the new absorber pad.
- Install the new energy
absorber pad to the door.
- Press firmly on the energy absorber pad to secure.
- Install the clip holding energy absorber in position.
- Install the water deflector. Refer to

- Install the rear door trim panel. Refer to
Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Close the door.
