1. Remove the key from the ignition lock key cylinder.
2. Close all of the vehicle doors.
3. Observe all of the door locks while you press the following positions on the driver's door lock switch:

•

LOCK

•

UNLOCK

4. Observe all of the door locks while you press the following positions on the passenger's door lock switch:

•

LOCK

•

UNLOCK

All of the doors lock and unlock when you press either door lock switch.

The following steps test the lockout prevention feature:

1. Completely lower all of the vehicle windows.
2. Insert the key into the ignition key lock cylinder and leave the ignition in the LOCK position.
3. Open the driver's door.
4. Leave the key in the ignition switch.
5. Make sure the automatic door lock/unlock is to mode 1.
6. Press LOCK on the door lock switch and observe the door locks.
7. Close the driver's door.
8. Open the left rear door.
9. Reach through the driver's window opening and press the lock on the door switch. Observe the door locks.
10. Open the right front door.
11. Press the lock on the door lock switch and observe the door locks.
12. Close the right front door.
13. Open the right rear door.
14. Reach through the right front window opening and press the lock on the door switch. Observe the door locks.
15. Open the right front door.
16. Press the lock on the door lock switch and hold for 3 seconds. Observe the door locks.

The doors do not lock if the following conditions exist:

1. Set the automatic door locks feature customization to mode 3. Refer to Power Door Locks Circuit Description
2. Verify that all of the doors are unlocked.
3. Close all of the vehicle doors.
4. Press and firmly hold the brake pedal.
5. Start the engine.
6. Shift the transaxle out of PARK and observe the door locks.
7. Shift the transaxle into PARK and observe the door locks.
8. Stop the engine.

Automatic Door Lock Lock/Unlock Mode Inoperative

1. Set the locking control feature customization to mode 3.
2. Close all the vehicle doors.
3. Start the engine.
4. Step firmly on the brake pedal.
5. Shift the transaxle out of the PARK position.
6. Using either door lock switch unlock the doors.
7. Open the drivers door.
8. Close the drivers door while observing the door locks.
9. Using either door lock switch, unlock the doors again.
10. Open a passenger door.
11. Close the doors and observe the door locks.
12. Shift the transaxle into the PARK position.
13. Stop the engine.
14. Restore the locking control feature customization to mode 3.

The automatic door lock relock feature operates when the following conditions exist when all doors lock upon closing the door and the shifter is out of the PARK position.

1. Set the locking control feature customization to mode 2. Refer to Power Door Locks Circuit Description
2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
3. Lower all of the vehicle windows.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position. Remove the key from the ignition lock cylinder.
5. Step out of the vehicle.
6. Ensure that the driver's door is open and that all of the passenger's doors are closed.
7. Press LOCK on the driver's door lock switch. Allow the chime to sound 3 times.
8. Close the driver's door.
9. Open the left rear door within 5 seconds after closing the driver's door. Allow the chime to sound 3 times.
10. Close the left rear door.
11. Wait for 5 seconds. Observe the door locks during this time.
12. Unlock and open the right front door.
13. Press LOCK on the door lock switch. Allow the chime to sound 3 times.
14. Close the right front door.
15. Within 5 seconds, open the right rear door. Allow the chime to sound 3 times.
16. Close the right rear door.
17. Wait for 5 seconds. Observe the door locks during this time.

All of the doors lock 5 seconds after the last door is closed when the following conditions exist:
