Preliminary Procedure

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
3. Remove the evaporator tube from the thermal expansion valve. Refer to Air Conditioning Evaporator Hose Assembly Replacement.
4. Remove the heater hoses from the heater core. Refer to Heater Hoses Replacement.
5. Remove the brake pedal bracket assembly. Refer to Brake Pedal Assembly Replacement.
6. Pull back and reposition the carpet.
7. Remove the lower instrument panel (I/P) support brace. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Support Bracket Replacement.
8. Reposition the auxiliary air distribution duct. Refer to Auxiliary Air Distributor Duct Replacement.
9. Remove the instrument panel carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement.
10. Disconnect the HVAC module assembly electrical connectors.

Tip
Tighten the nuts in sequence.

9 N·m (80 lb in)
