Removal Procedure
Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent
surfaces to help prevent paint damage.
- Apply protective tape to the front edge of the front door and the rear
edge of the front bumper fascia.
- Remove the front park/turn signal lamp. Refer to
Parking and Turn Signal Lamp Replacement
in Lighting Systems.
- Remove the front fender wheel opening molding. Refer to
Front Fender Wheel Opening Molding Replacement
in Exterior
Trim.
- Remove the front fender liner. Refer to
Front Fender Liner Replacement
.
- Remove the front fender sound insulator. Refer to
Front Fender Insulator Replacement
.
- Remove the rocker panel molding. Refer to
Rocker Panel Molding Replacement
in Exterior Trim.
- Remove the bolts from
the front bumper fascia at the front fender.
- Remove the bolts from the fender at the door hinge pillar.
- Remove the bolts from
the fender at the rocker panel.
- Remove the bolts from
the fender at the front compartment side rail.
- Remove the fender from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the front fender to the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts to the
fender at the front compartment side rail.
Tighten
Tighten the front fender compartment side rail bolts to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
- Install the bolts to the
fender at the rocker panel.
Tighten
Tighten the fender to rocker panel bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the bolts to the
fender at the door hinge pillar.
Tighten
Tighten the fender to door hinge pillar bolts to 6 N·m
(53 lb in).
- Install the front fender wheel opening molding. Refer to
Front Fender Wheel Opening Molding Replacement
in Exterior
Trim.
- Install the front fender sound insulator. Refer to
Front Fender Insulator Replacement
.
- Install the front fender liner. Refer to
Front Fender Liner Replacement
.
- Install the rocker panel molding. Refer to
Rocker Panel Molding Replacement
in Exterior Trim.
- Remove the protective tape to the front edge of the front door
and the rear edge of the front bumper fascia.
