Shift Lever - Assemble - Off Vehicle for Cadillac DeVille 2002
Shift Lever - Assemble - Off Vehicle Power Tilt\\Telescope-Column Shift
- Install the shift lever seal (3) onto the shift lever (1).
- Install the shift lever (1) into the shift lever clevis.
- Install the shift lever screw (2).
- Slide the shift lever seal (3) down the shift lever (1).
- Install the upper and lower trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Off Vehicle .
- Install the steering column into the vehicle. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .
- Install the steering wheel onto the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
- Enable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the shift lever screw to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
Shift Lever - Assemble - Off Vehicle Manual Tilt, Column Shift
- Install the shift lever seal (3) onto the shift lever (1).
- Install the shift lever (1) into the shift lever clevis.
- Install the shift lever screw (2).
- Slide the shift lever seal (3) down the shift lever (1).
- Install the upper and lower trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Off Vehicle .
- Install the steering column into the vehicle. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .
- Install the steering wheel onto the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
- Enable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
