For 1990-2009 cars only
- Remove the steering column lock cylinder set. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle .
- Remove the upper tilt head components. Refer to Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Upper Bearing Inner Race - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .
- Remove the ignition and key alarm switch assembly and the coded key controller only. Refer to Ignition and Key Alarm Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .
- Insert a small screwdriver into the slot on the lock module assembly and push against the locking tab to remove the park lock cable assembly.
- Disconnect the park lock cable assembly (1).
- The lock bolt and spring are located inside the switch mounting bracket. The lock module assembly is mounted on the switch mounting bracket.
- Remove the 3 pan head tapping screws (1) from the lock module assembly (2).
- Remove the lock module assembly (2) and the lock bolt assembly (4) from the switch mounting bracket.
- Remove the lock bolt spring (3) from the lock bolt assembly (4).
- Remove 1 pan head tapping screw (1).
- Slide the switch mounting bracket (2) off of the steering column.
Important: The lock bolt assembly (4) is under slight spring tension from the lock bolt spring (3). Hold the lock bolt (4) in place while removing the lock module assembly (2).
