Headlining Trim Panel Replacement w/CF5

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

  1. Remove the front bucket seats. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement in Seats.
  2. Remove the center console, if equipped. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  3. Remove center seat, if equipped. Refer to Front Center Seat Replacement in Seats.
  4. Remove the windshield pillar trim. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  5. Remove the center pillar trim. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  6. Remove the sail panels. Refer to Sail Panel Replacement .
  7. Notice: If the vehicle is equipped with rear vanity mirrors, the rear vanity mirrors must be removed before the removal of the headliner or damage to the roof may result.

  8. Remove the rear vanity mirrors, if equipped. Refer to Rear Seat Roof Illuminated Mirror Replacement .
  9. Remove the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  10. Disconnect the electrical connector to the windshield outside moisture sensor.
  11. Disconnect the rearview mirror electrical connectors.
  12. Pull the door opening moldings down to clear the headliner.
  13. Remove the assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .

  15. Disconnect the headliner wiring harness connector.

  16. Object Number: 107683  Size: SH
  17. Open the wire harness retainers and remove the harness.
  18. Notice: Use care when removing and installing the headliner. If reusing the headliner lay the headliner down flat on a clean surface. Excessive bending will damage the headliner.

  19. Release the push-in retainers at the rear of the headliner, if equipped.

  21. Carefully pull the headliner down in order to release the remaining headliner locators from the roof panel.
  22. Remove the headliner through the rear drivers door opening.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 474275  Size: SH

    Important: If the headliner locators separate from the headliner during removal, obtain a locator repair kit from GM SPO.

  1. Load the headliner into the vehicle through the rear drivers door opening.
  2. With the aid of a helper, raise the headliner into position.
  3. Install the assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .
  4. Install the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  5. Install the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  6. Install the center pillar garnish molding. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 107684  Size: SH
  8. Connect the headliner wiring harness connector.

  9. Object Number: 107683  Size: SH
  10. Route and secure the wiring harness in the wiring harness retainers.
  11. Install the sail panels. Refer to Sail Panel Replacement .
  12. Install the rear vanity mirrors, if equipped. Refer to Rear Seat Roof Illuminated Mirror Replacement .
  13. Important: Ensure that the inside lip of the door opening weather-strip is properly seated to close out the headliner, sail panel and pillar garnish moldings.

  14. Install the weather-strips in the door openings.
  15. Connect the rear view mirror electrical connectors.
  16. Connect the electrical connector at the windshield outside moisture sensor.
  17. Install the center console, if equipped. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  18. Install the center seat, if equipped. Refer to Front Center Seat Replacement in Seats.
  19. Install the front bucket seats. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement in Seats.

Headlining Trim Panel Replacement w/o CF5

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front bucket seats. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement in Seats.
  2. Remove the center console, if equipped. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  3. Remove center seat, if equipped. Refer to Front Center Seat Replacement in Seats.
  4. Remove the windshield pillar trim. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  5. Remove the center pillar trim. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  6. Remove the sail panels. Refer to Sail Panel Replacement .
  7. Remove the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  8. Disconnect the electrical connector at the windshield outside moisture sensor.
  9. Disconnect the rearview mirror electrical connectors.
  10. Pull the door opening moldings down to clear the headliner.
  11. Remove the assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .

  13. Disconnect the headliner wiring harness connector.

  14. Object Number: 107683  Size: SH
  15. Open the wire harness retainers and remove the harness.
  16. Notice: Use care when removing and installing the headliner. If reusing the headliner lay the headliner down flat on a clean surface. Excessive bending will damage the headliner.

  17. Release the push-in retainers at the rear of the headliner, if equipped.

    Important: A sharp putty knife may be necessary to cut the adhesive bead retaining the headliner to the cardboard roof reinforcement.

  19. Pull the headliner down in order to release the cardboard roof dampener from the roof.
  20. Remove the headliner through the rear drivers door opening.

Installation Procedure

  1. Ensure the roof dampener is attached to the roof panel. Install the cardboard insulator to the roof dampener. Refer to Cardboard Insulator Headliner Replacement

  2. Object Number: 474275  Size: SH

    Important: If the headliner locators separate from the headliner during removal, obtain a locator repair kit from GM SPO.

  3. Load the headliner into the vehicle through the rear drivers door opening.
  4. With the aid of a helper, raise the headliner into position.
  5. Install the assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .
  6. Install the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  7. Install the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  8. Install the center pillar garnish molding. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .

  10. Connect the headliner wiring harness connector.

  13. Install the sail panels. Refer to Sail Panel Replacement .

  15. Install the door opening weather-strips in the door openings.
  16. Connect the rear view mirror electrical connectors.
  17. Connect the electrical connectors at the windshield outside moisture sensor.
  18. Install the center console, if equipped. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  19. Install the center seat, if equipped. Refer to Front Center Seat Replacement in Seats.
  20. Install the front bucket seats. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement in Seat.

Headlining Trim Panel Replacement WC2, WC8

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

  1. Remove the front windshield. Refer to Windshield Replacement in Stationary Windows.
  2. Remove the windshield pillar trim. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  3. Remove the center pillar trim. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  4. Remove the sail panels. Refer to Sail Panel Replacement .
  5. Remove the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector at the windshield outside moisture sensor.
  7. Disconnect the rearview mirror electrical connectors.
  8. Pull the door opening moldings down to clear the headliner.
  9. Remove the assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .

  11. Disconnect the headliner wiring harness connector.

  13. Open the wire harness retainers and remove the harness.
  14. Notice: Use care when removing and installing the headliner. If reusing the headliner lay the headliner down flat on a clean surface. Excessive bending will damage the headliner.

  15. Release the push-in retainers at the rear of the headliner, if equipped.

  17. Pull the headliner down in order to release the cardboard roof dampener from the roof.
  18. Remove the headliner through the front window opening.

Installation Procedure

    Important: If the headliner locators separate from the headliner during removal, obtain a locator repair kit from GM SPO.

  1. Load the headliner into the vehicle through the front window opening.
  2. With the aid of an assistant, raise the headliner into position.
  3. Install the assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .
  4. Install the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  5. Install the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  6. Install the center pillar garnish molding. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 107684  Size: SH
  8. Connect the headliner wiring harness connector.

  9. Object Number: 107683  Size: SH
  10. Route and secure the wiring harness in the wiring harness retainers.
  11. Install the sail panels. Refer to Sail Panel Replacement .
  12. Important: Ensure that the inside lip of the door opening weatherstrip is properly seated to close out the headliner, sail panel, and pillar garnish moldings.

  13. Install the door opening weatherstrips in the door openings.
  14. Connect the rearview mirror electrical connectors.
  15. Connect the electrical connectors at the windshield outside moisture sensor.
  16. Install the front windshield. Refer to Windshield Replacement in Stationary Windows.
