The door window assembly on the Eldorado consists of a frameless piece of solid tempered safety plate glass with pre-set run channel guide blocks attached.

Verify that the adjustments for the following components are correct:

    • The door hinge
    • The mini wedge striker

When the window is lowered, ensure that the following conditions exist:

    • The door closes using normal effort.
    • The door is properly aligned to the body and the fender.
    • The door does not ride up or down on the mini wedge striker.

In the closed position, ensure that the rear of the door is flush to 1 mm (0.031 in) outboard of the quarter panel. Perform any door or mini wedge striker adjustments before performing any window adjustments. Refer to Door Adjustment and Door Lock Striker Adjustment .

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Disconnect the power window switch when working inside the driver door. When operated, the Express Up/Down Feature allows the door window to move very quickly, without stopping, which could cause personal injury.

  1. Remove the trim panel. Refer to Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  3. Note the position of the water deflector. Reinstall the water deflector in the same position in order to prevent water leaks.

  4. Remove the inner belt sealing strip. Refer to Inner Belt Sealing Strip Replacement .
  5. Remove the outer mirror assembly. Refer to Outside Rearview Mirror Motor Replacement .
  6. Remove the front door weatherstrip. Refer to Front Side Door Window Weatherstrip Replacement .
  7. Loosen the wedge in order to allow the wedge to drop.

  9. Remove the rear run channel (3).

  11. Position the window in order to access the 3 window sash to regulator bolts.
  12. Caution: When working with any type of glass or sheet metal with exposed or rough edges, wear approved safety glasses and gloves in order to reduce the chance of personal injury.

  13. With an assistant, perform the following procedures:
  14. 9.1. Hold the window.
    9.2. Remove the 3 window sash to regulator bolts (1).

  15. With an assistant, remove the window (1) from the door.

  17. Remove the rear run channel (3) from the door.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the window (1) into the door.

  2. Object Number: 319979  Size: SH
  3. Loosely install the 3 regulator to window sash bolts (1).

  4. Object Number: 319970  Size: MH
  5. Loosely install the rear run channel (3).
  6. Install the inner belt sealing strip. Refer to Inner Belt Sealing Strip Replacement .
  7. Install the front door window weatherstrip. Refer to Front Side Door Window Weatherstrip Replacement .
  8. Install the outer mirror assembly. Refer to Outside Rearview Mirror Motor Replacement .
  9. Reconnect the power window switch.
  10. Raise the window 25 mm (1 in) below the full up position.
  11. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  12. Install the rear upper run channel bolt (1) inboard in the slot.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the front and rear upper run channel bolts (1) to 11 N·m  (97 lb in).

  14. Loosen the window up stops.
  15. Perform adjustments as needed. Refer to Door Window Adjustment .
  16. Notice: Proper sealing is necessary in order to prevent water entry into the door and possible damage to inner door components.

  17. Install the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  18. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Door Trim Panel Replacement .
