  1. Verify that the park brake is disengaged.
  2. Turn on the ignition.

Does the PARK indicator illuminate?

Disconnect the park brake switch connector.

Is the PARK indicator illuminated?

  1. Turn off the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the instrument panel cluster (IPC) connectors.
  3. Measure the resistance between the IPC connector C2 terminal B1 and ground.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Repair a short to ground in CKT 1134 (LT BLU). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Test the park brake for proper adjustment.
  2. If the adjustment is OK, replace the park brake switch. Refer to Parking Brake Indicator Switch Replacement .

  1. Perform the instrument panel cluster diagnostic system check. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  2. Replace the IPC if necessary. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
