Was the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check performed?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Place the headlamp switch in the PARK LAMP position.

Do the park lamps operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Place the headlamp switch in the HEAD LAMP position.

Do the headlamps operate properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Headlamps Inoperative - Low Beams

Are all of the park lamps inoperative?

Go to Step 7

  1. Disconnect the inoperative park lamp.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the park lamp supply voltage circuit and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Connect a test lamp between the supply voltage circuit of the inoperative park lamp and the ground circuit of the inoperative park lamp.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

With a scan tool, observe the Park Lamp parameter in the Dash Integration Module (DIM) inputs data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Park Lamp parameter is ON?

  1. Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
  2. With a scan tool, select the Parking Lamps Relay from the Dash Integration Module (DIM) Special Functions Output Controls.
  3. Command the PRK LP relay ON and OFF.

Do you hear a click when you command the PRK LP relay ON and OFF?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the PRK LP relay.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the controlled positive voltage circuit of the PRK LP relay coil and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 10

  1. Connect a test lamp between the controlled positive voltage circuit of the PRK LP relay coil and the control circuit of the PRK LP relay.
  2. With a scan tool, command the PRK LP relay ON.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the PRK LP relay.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit of the PRK LP relay switch and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a 15 amp fused jumper between the battery positive voltage circuit of the PRK LP relay switch and the park lamp supply voltage circuit.

Do the park lamps illuminate?

Go to Step 17

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the headlamp switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper between the park lamps on signal circuit and a good ground.
  5. With a scan tool, observe the Park Lamp parameter.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Park Lamp parameter is ON?

Test for an open or high resistance in the park lamp switch on signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for an open or high resistance in the controlled positive voltage circuit of the PRK LP relay coil. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Important:: Perform the setup procedure for the Dash Integration Module (DIM). Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration .
