Cause

Action

The column mounting bracket bolts are loose.

Tighten the connection. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .

The weld nut on the jacket is broken.

Replace the jacket assembly. Refer to Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle and Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Assemble - Off Vehicle .

The column bracket capsule is sheared.

Replace the jacket assembly. Refer to Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle and Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Assemble - Off Vehicle .

The tilt head pivot pins are loose.

Replace the jacket assembly. Refer to Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle and Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Assemble - Off Vehicle .

The shoe lock pin in the support is loose.

Replace the jacket assembly. Refer to Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle and Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Assemble - Off Vehicle .

The support screws are loose.

Tighten the support screws. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .

The upper and the lower bracket to the jacket bolts are loose.

Tighten the bolts to the specified torque. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .

The lower bracket to the adapter and the bearing assembly mounting bolts are loose.

Tighten the mounting screws to the specified torque. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .

The instrument panel to the jacket mounting bolts are loose.

Tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .
