Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the transmission oil pan and the filter. Refer to Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter Replacement

  2. Object Number: 14464  Size: SH
  3. Remove the bolts that attach the 1-2 accumulator cover and pin to the transmission case.
  4. Remove the 1-2 accumulator cover.
  5. Remove the 1-2 accumulator cover pin.

  6. Object Number: 14467  Size: SH
  7. Remove the 1-2 accumulator springs.
  8. Remove the 1-2 accumulator oil seal ring.
  9. Remove the 1-2 accumulator piston. The piston and the ring may remain inside the cover and the pin.
  10. Remove the control valve, if replacing the 3-4 accumulator. Refer to Control Valve Body and Pressure Switch

  11. Object Number: 5454  Size: SH
  12. Remove the 3-4 accumulator piston oil seal ring.
  13. Remove the 3-4 accumulator piston.
  14. Remove the accumulator pin.
  15. Inspect the accumulators.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 5454  Size: SH
  1. Install the accumulator pin.
  2. Install the 3-4 accumulator piston.
  3. Install the 3-4 accumulator piston oil seal ring.
  4. Install the control valve body, if removed. Refer to Control Valve Body and Pressure Switch

  5. Object Number: 14467  Size: SH
  6. Install the 1-2 accumulator piston.
  7. Install the 1-2 accumulator oil seal ring.
  8. Install the 1-2 accumulator spring. If the spring is conical in shape, install the larger end into the piston.

  9. Object Number: 14464  Size: SH
  10. Install the 1-2 accumulator cover.
  11. Install the 1-2 accumulator cover pin.
  12. Install the 1-2 accumulator cover bolts.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  14. Install the transmission oil pan and filter. Refer to Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter Replacement
