Component Name

Warning: Replace the passenger presence system as a complete assembly to prevent possible injury to the occupant. All the components in the service kit are assembled and calibrated as a unit. Using only some of the components in the service kit will cause the passenger presence system to operate improperly.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the front seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket.
  2. Remove the seat riser outboard finish cover. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Outer Trim Panel Replacement.
  3. Remove the seat recliner inboard finish covers. Refer to Front Seat Back Recliner Inner Trim Panel Replacement.
  4. Remove the seat recliner outboard finish covers. Refer to Front Seat Back Recliner Outer Trim Panel Replacement.
  5. Remove the front seat back panel. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Finish Panel Replacement.
  6. Re-zero the inflatable restraint passenger presence system whenever the seat cushion or any component of the passenger presence system is removed. Refer to Passenger Presence System Programming and Setup.

Front Seat Head Restraint

Tip
Depress the button on the outboard head restraint guide and pull up to raise and remove the head restraint.

Front Seat Head Restraint Guide (Qty: 2)

Tip
Reach up and into the top of the seat back, while pressing the tabs on the bottom of the head restraint guide, pull the guide from the seat back frame.

Seat Back Cushion Cover Pad

Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement.

Tip
Remove the seat back cushion cover and pad as an assembly.

Seat Cushion Cover Pad

Refer to Front Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement.

Procedure

  1. Remove the seat cushion cover and pad as an assembly.
  2. The inflatable restraint passenger presence system is part of the pad on the passenger seat cushion, and must be replaced as an assembly.
  3. The sensor, module and seat cushion pad must be replaced as a unit.
