Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 431900 Size: SH
  1. Remove the left front seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket in Seats.
  2. Remove the left body hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  3. Remove the left front and rear side door sill trim plates. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
  4. Remove the left center pillar lower trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  5. Disengage the front retaining clips (2) by raising the rear seat cushion (1) at the front edge.
  6. Pull the rear seat cushion (1) forward in order to remove the cushion from the vehicle.

  7. Remove the full width or the left folding rear seat back cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement or Rear Split Folding Seat Back Replacement in Seats.
  8. Remove the left rear seat back trim panel from the vehicle, if equipped with folding seats. Refer to Rear Seat Back Cushion Trim Panel Replacement in Seats.
  9. Remove the floor carpet retainers (1) from the left front and rear door sill flange.
  10. Position the floor panel carpet (3) aside in order to access the rear compartment lid lock release cable.
  11. Remove the fuel/rear compartment release handle housing (2) bolt from the floor panel.
  12. Remove the rear compartment lid lock release cable from the fuel/rear compartment release handle housing (2).

  13. Open the rear compartment lid.
  14. Remove the plastic retainer and position the left rear compartment side trim (3) aside in order to access the rear compartment lid lock release cable (5).

  15. Remove the 2 bolts (1) that retain the rear compartment lid lock (2) to the rear compartment lid.
  16. Remove the rear compartment lid lock release cable (3) from the rear compartment lid lock (2).
  17. Unclip the release cable (3) from the retaining clips and remove the cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install and route the rear compartment lid release cable (3) to the vehicle. Secure the cable to the retaining clips.
  2. Install the rear compartment lid release cable (3) to the rear compartment lid lock (2).

    3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the rear compartment lid lock (2) to the lid. Secure the lock with the 2 bolts (1).

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the rear compartment lid lock bolts to 5 N·m (43 lb in).

  4. Reposition the left rear compartment side trim (3) to its original position. Secure the trim with the plastic retainer.
  5. Lower the rear compartment lid.

    6. Object Number: 328464 Size: SH
  6. Install the rear compartment lid lock release cable to the fuel/rear compartment release handle housing (2). Secure the housing with the bolt.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the handle housing bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Reposition the floor panel carpet (3) to its original position.
  8. Install the floor carpet retainers (1) to the left front and rear door sill pinch flange.

  9. Install the left front seat belt (1) lower anchor bolt.

    10. Tighten
    Tighten the front seat belt lower anchor bolt to 42 N·m (31 lb in).

  10. Install the left rear seat back trim panel to the vehicle, if equipped with folding seats. Secure the panel with the plastic retainers.
  11. Install the full width or the left folding seat back cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement or Rear Split Folding Seat Back Replacement in Seats.

    12. Object Number: 431900 Size: SH
  12. Slide the rear seat cushion (1) into position. Ensure that the seat belt buckles are not covered.
  13. Engage the rear seat cushion front retaining clips (2).
  14. Remove the left center pillar lower trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  15. Install the left front and rear side door sill trim plates. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
  16. Install the left body hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  17. Install the left front seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket in Seats.
