Abnormal Result(s)*

Important: If an action has an abnormal result that is not one of the abnormal results listed for that action, continue with the Diagnostic System Check until you reach the step that lists the abnormal result. The Diagnostic System Check lists an abnormal result after all of the conditions that could cause the abnormal result are tested. The diagnosis for the abnormal result is based upon where the result is stated in the diagnostic system check. A particular diagnosis may not work if the step is performed out of sequence.

Close the lift window and the gate, if open.

    • The gate closes and latches.
    • The lift window closes and latches.
    • The gate ajar indicator on the IP turns OFF.

  1. Place the cargo lamp switch in the ON position.
  2. Place the transmission in the PARK position (A/T) or NEUTRAL position (M/T).
  3. Set the parking brake.
  4. Depress the lift window release switch located on the instrument panel.
    • The lift window is released when the window release switch is depressed.
    • The cargo lamp illuminates with the gate open.

  1. Close the lift window.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Do not start the engine.
  3. Depress the brake pedal.
  4. Continue to keep the brake pedal depressed.

  5. Release the parking brake.
  6. Place the transmission in the REVERSE position.
  7. Depress the lift window release switch located on the instrument panel.

The lift window is not released when the window release switch is depressed.

PRNDL Display Inaccurate or Inoperative in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console

  1. Place the transmission in the PARK position (A/T) or the NEUTRAL position (M/T).
  2. Release the brake pedal.
  3. With manual transmission, set the parking brake.
  4. Lock the doors.
  5. Insert the ignition key in the gate lock cylinder switch.
  6. Operate the gate lock switch in order to unlock the doors.
    • The ignition key operates the gate lock cylinder switch.
    • The doors unlock.

Power Door Locks System Check in Doors

Depress the gate lock cylinder switch in order to release the lift window.

The lift window is released when the gate lock cylinder switch is depressed.

  1. Close the lift window.
  2. Close and lock the left front door.
  3. Depress the gate lock cylinder switch in order to release the lift window.

The lift window does not release when the gate lock cylinder switch is depressed.

Power Door Locks System Check in Doors

  1. Unlock the left front door.
  2. Place the headlamp switch in the PARK position.
  3. Adjust the panel dimmer switch to the maximum position.
  4. Verify that the gate window release switch illumination lamp is illuminated.
  5. Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.

The lift window release switch illumination lamp is illuminated with the headlamp switch in the PARK position.

Interior Lights Dimming System Check in Lighting Systems

  1. Open the gate.
  2. Observe the gate ajar indicator on the IP.
  3. Close the gate.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

The gate ajar indicator illuminates with the gate open.
