Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement Left-Hand Drive

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1221495  Size: SH
  1. Remove the master cylinder assembly. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the power booster.
  3. Straighten the cotter pin and remove it (1).
  4. Remove the clevis pin (2).

  5. Object Number: 1221494  Size: SH
  6. Remove the nuts (1).

  7. Object Number: 1221493  Size: SH
  8. Remove the power booster (1).

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1221491  Size: SH

    Important: Make sure the distance from the booster to the center of the clevis bore should be 100 mm (3.94 in).

  1. Install the power booster with the new cotter pin, clevis pin and nuts (1).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts  to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  3. Install the master cylinder assembly. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement .
  4. Connect the vacuum hose to the power booster.
  5. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the master cylinder assembly. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the power booster.
  3. Remove the instrument panel assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  4. Remove the evaporator unit mounting screws and take off the evaporator unit a little. Refer to Evaporator Core and Drain Hose Replacement in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.
  5. Straighten the cotter pin and remove it (1).
  6. Remove the clevis pin (2).

  8. Remove the nuts (1).

  9. Object Number: 1221493  Size: SH
  10. Remove the power booster (1).

  1. Install the power booster with the new cotter pin, clevis pin and nuts (1).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  3. Install the evaporator unit with the screws. Refer to Evaporator Core and Drain Hose Replacement in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.
  4. Install the instrument panel assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  5. Connect the vacuum hose to the power booster.
  6. Install the master cylinder assembly. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement .
