Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1224832 Size: SH
  1. Remove the parking brake lever. Refer to Park Brake Lever Assembly Replacement .
  2. Remove the cable pulley (1).
  3. Loosen the adjustment nuts (3) and remove the strengthener (2).

    4. Object Number: 1224838 Size: SH
  4. Remove the cable grommet (1).

    5. Object Number: 1224842 Size: SH
  5. Remove the rear brake drum assembly. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement in Drum Brakes.
  6. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the rear brake drum assembly.
    7. 6.1. Remove the clip (1) from the brake plate.
    6.2. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the trailing shoe (2). Refer to Park Brake Cable Replacement .

  7. Remove the right rear clamp bolts (1) fastening the brake cable.
  8. Remove the fuel filter. Refer to Fuel Filter Replacement in Engine Controls-0.8L.

    9. Object Number: 1224834 Size: SH
  9. Remove the left rear clamp bolts (1) fastening the brake cable.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1224840 Size: SH
  1. Install the fuel filter. Refer to Fuel Filter Replacement in Engine Controls--0.8L.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the parking brake cable with the clamp bolts (1).

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the parking brake cable clamp bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  3. Connect the parking brake cable to the rear brake drum assembly. Refer to Park Brake Cable Replacement in Rear Drum Brake.
  4. Install the rear brake drum assembly. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement in Drum Brakes.
  5. Install the grommet and the strengthener.
  6. Install the cable pulley with the adjustment nuts (1).

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the adjustment nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Install the parking brake lever. Refer to Park Brake Lever Assembly Replacement .
