Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1225419  Size: SH

    Important: The power steering pump in this vehicle is not serviceable. A faulty pump must be replaced.

  1. Remove the front passenger side headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  2. Disconnect the supply line pipe hose (1).
  3. Disconnect the pressure line pipe fitting (2).

  5. Remove the pump drive belt. Refer to Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement .
  6. Disconnect the power steering pressure switch connector (1) and remove the bolts (2). Refer to Power Steering Pressure Switch Replacement

  7. Object Number: 1225421  Size: SH
  8. Remove the power steering pump and bolt (1).

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1225423  Size: SH
  1. Install the power steering pump with the bolt (1).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 18-22 N·m (13-16 lb ft).

  3. Connect the power steering pressure switch connector. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Switch Replacement
  4. Install the pump drive belt. Refer to Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement

  5. Object Number: 1225425  Size: SH
  6. Install the rear bracket adjusting (2) and power steering bolt (3).
  7. Tighten

        • Tighten the rear bracket adjusting bolt to 20-24 N·m (15-18 lb ft).
        • Tighten the power steering bolt to 20-24 N·m (15-18 lb ft).
  8. Connect the pressure line pipe to the outlet connection (1) on the steering pump.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the pressure line pipe fitting to 21-35 N·m (16-26 lb ft).

  10. Install the front passenger side headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  11. Notice: Refer to Power Steering Required Fluid Notice in the Preface section.

  12. Refill the pump with new fluid and bleed the air from the system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  13. Inspect for leaks. If leaks are found, correct the cause of the leak and bleed the system.
