Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  2. Remove the window outer sealing strip. Refer to Rear Door Window Belt Outer Sealing Strip Replacement .
  3. Remove the door weatherstrip. Refer to Rear Door Weatherstrip Replacement .
  4. Remove the door window channel. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Channel Replacement .
  5. Remove the door lock. Refer to Rear Door Lock Replacement .
  6. Remove the outside door handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Outside Handle Replacement .
  7. Remove the door window regulator. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Regulator Replacement .

  9. Remove the rear side door stationary window. Refer to Rear Side Door Stationary Window Replacement .
  10. Remove the door check. Refer to Rear Side Door Check Link Replacement .
  11. Remove the door molding. Refer to Rear Side Door Molding Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  12. Support the rear side door (2) using a floor jack (1) and piece of wood.
  13. Mark the position of the door to the hinges in order to ease the installation process.
  14. Remove the 4 bolts which secure the door to the hinges.
  15. Position the door away from the door jamb in order to gain the necessary clearance to remove the rear side door wiring harness grommet, if equipped.

  17. Unclip the plastic retainers which secure the rear side door wiring harness (3) to the rear side door, if equipped.
  18. Release the door wiring harness grommet and unroute the wiring harness (3) from the door, if equipped.
  19. Remove any remaining retainers from the rear side door.
  20. Remove the rear side door from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the retainers which were removed from the door.
  2. Position the rear side door near the door jamb in order to install the rear side door wiring harness (3) to the door, if equipped.
  3. Route the door wiring harness (3) through the door and seat the grommet, if equipped. Secure the wiring harness to the door with the plastic retainers.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the rear side door to the hinges. Align the matchmarks on the hinges in order to aid in the correct adjustment of the door. Secure the door to the hinges with the 4 bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the rear side door hinge bolts to 27 N·m (19 lb ft).

  7. Remove the floor jack (1) and the piece of wood from the door (2).
  8. Install the door molding. Refer to Rear Side Door Molding Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  9. Install the door check. Refer to Rear Side Door Check Link Replacement .
  10. Install the rear side door stationary window. Refer to Rear Side Door Stationary Window Replacement .
  11. Install the door window regulator. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Regulator Replacement .
  12. Install the door lock. Refer to Rear Door Lock Replacement .
  13. Install the outside door handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Outside Handle Replacement .
  14. Install the door window channel. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Channel Replacement .
  15. Install the door weatherstrip. Refer to Rear Door Weatherstrip Replacement .
  16. Install the window outer sealing strip. Refer to Rear Door Window Belt Outer Sealing Strip Replacement .
  17. Install the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  18. Adjust the rear side door striker, as needed. Refer to Rear Side Door Lock Striker Replacement
