Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1265727  Size: SH
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
  3. Remove the shoe and lining. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 1265728  Size: SH
  5. Clean dirt and foreign material from around the wheel cylinder brake line inlet, the pilot, and the bolt.
  6. Remove the brake fitting nut from the wheel cylinder.
  7. Plug the opening in the brake line in order to prevent fluid loss or contamination.

  8. Object Number: 1265729  Size: SH
  9. Remove the wheel cylinder-to-backing plate bolt.
  10. Gently tap out the wheel cylinder from the backing plate, using care not to damage the bleeder valve or its cap.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1265729  Size: SH
  1. Install the wheel cylinder backing plate, using care not to damage the bleeder valve or its cap.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the wheel cylinder to the backing plate bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (7 lb ft).

  5. Remove the plug from the brake line opening.
  6. Install the brake fitting nut to the wheel cylinder.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  8. Install the shoe and lining. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .
  9. Install the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
