Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

       • Air bag deployment
       • Personal injury
       • Unnecessary SRS system repairs
    In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
       • Refer to SRS Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SRS components or the SRS wiring.
       • If you are performing service on or near the SRS components or the SRS wiring, disable the SRS system. Refer to Disabling the SRS System in SRS.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the glove box. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement.
  3. Remove passenger air bag if equipped. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement.
  4. Caution: The sensing and the diagnosis module (SDM) can maintain sufficient voltage to deploy the airbags and pretensioners for up to 1 minute after the ignition has been turned OFF and the fuse has been removed. If the airbags and pretensioners are not disconnected, do not begin service until one minute has been passed after disconnecting power to the SDM. Failure to do so may cause personal injury.

  5. Disconnect the connector to the intake air control door actuator.
  6. Remove 3 screws that secure the intake air control door actuator to blower unit.
  7. Remove the intake air control door actuator by gently snapping the actuator.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the intake air control door actuator by gently snapping the actuator.
  2. Install 3 screws that secure the intake air control door actuator to the blower unit.
  3. Connect the connector to the intake air control door actuator.
  4. Install passenger air bag if equipped. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement.
  5. Install the glove box. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
