Accessory Brackets Replacement Accessory Bracket Left Side

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 317717  Size: SH

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect both the battery negative cables from the batteries. Refer to Battery Cable Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the upper radiator shroud from the radiator. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement (Lower VIN 1) in Engine Cooling.
  3. Remove the drive belt from the drive pulleys. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  4. Remove the engine cooling fan from the water pump. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement (Diesel) in Engine Cooling.
  5. Important: When performing this service procedure, the air conditioning compressor does not have to be evacuated.

  6. Remove the air conditioning compressor from the accessory bracket (if equipped), and position to the side. Refer to Compressor Replacement (6.5L) in HVAC.

  8. Remove the idler pulley assembly (if vehicle is not equipped with A/C) from the left accessory bracket. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement .

  9. Object Number: 160863  Size: SH
  10. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling.
  11. Remove the upper radiator hose from the thermostat housing.
  12. Remove the inlet heater hose from the thermostat housing and position out of the way.

  14. Remove the thermostat housing crossover from the cylinder heads. Refer to Thermostat Housing Crossover Replacement (Diesel) in Engine Cooling.
  15. Remover the power steering pump from the accessory bracket. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (6.5L Diesel Engine) in Power Steering.

  16. Object Number: 59794  Size: SH
  17. Remove the bolts from the accessory bracket.
  18. Remove the accessory bracket from the engine block.
  19. Clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder and crossover.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 59794  Size: SH
  1. Install the accessory bracket to the engine block.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the accessory bracket bolts to the cylinder head.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 50N·m (37 lb ft).

  5. Install the power steering pump to the accessory bracket. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (6.5L Diesel Engine) in Power Steering.

  7. Install the thermostat housing crossover to the cylinder heads. Refer to Thermostat Housing Crossover Replacement (Diesel) in Engine Cooling.
  8. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling.

  9. Object Number: 160863  Size: SH
  10. Install the upper radiator hose and clamp to the thermostat housing and the radiator.
  11. Install the inlet heater hose to the thermostat housing.

  13. Install the A/C compressor on the accessory bracket. Refer to Compressor Replacement (6.5L) in HVAC.
  14. Install the idler pulley and the bracket assembly (if vehicle is not equipped with A/C) to the left accessory bracket. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement .
  15. Install the engine cooling fan to the water pump. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement (Diesel) in Engine Cooling.
  16. Install the drive belt on the drive pulleys. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  17. Install the upper radiator shroud in the vehicle. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement (Lower VIN 1) in Engine Cooling.
  18. Connect both the battery negative cables to the batteries. Refer to Battery Cable Replacement in Engine Electrical.

Accessory Brackets Replacement Accessory Bracket Right Side

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 186800  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect both the battery negative cables from the batteries. Refer to Battery Cable Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the upper radiator shroud from the radiator. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement (Lower VIN 1) in Engine Cooling.
  3. Remove the engine cooling fan assembly. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement (Diesel) in Engine Cooling.
  4. Remove the drive belt from the drive pulleys. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  5. Remove the generator from the accessory bracket. Refer to Generator Replacement (Diesel Engines) in Engine Electrical.
  6. Remove the drive belt tensioner from the accessory bracket. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 177149  Size: SH
  8. Remove the vacuum pump from the accessory bracket. Refer to Vacuum Pump Replacement .

  9. Object Number: 300250  Size: SH
  10. Remove the accessory bracket bolts and accessory bracket nuts from the engine block.
  11. Remove the accessory bracket from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the accessory bracket to the vehicle.

  5. Install the vacuum pump to the accessory bracket. Refer to Vacuum Pump Replacement .
  6. Install the drive belt tensioner to the accessory bracket. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement .

  8. Install the generator to the accessory bracket. Refer to Generator Replacement (Diesel Engines) in Engine Electrical.
  9. Install the drive belt on the drive pulleys. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  10. Install the engine cooling fan assembly. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement (Diesel) in Engine Cooling.
  11. Install the upper radiator shroud to the radiator. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement (Lower VIN 1) in Engine Cooling.
