Air Conditioning Compressor Oil Level Check Seltec TM-16HD

  1. Perform the Oil Return Operation. Refer to Oil Return Procedure .
  2. Remove the compressor. For the P72, refer to Compressor . For the P92, refer to Compressor .
  3. Remove the oil drain plug.
  4. Drain the oil out of the compressor through the oil drain hole and through the suction and discharge connections.

  6. Drain the remaining oil from the discharge-side connector by rotating the drive plate several times by hand.

  7. Object Number: 22117  Size: SH
  8. Pour the extracted oil into a graduated cylinder in order to determine the level of the oil.
  9. Check the oil for contamination. Refer to Handling Compressor Oil .
  10. Apply a thin coat of clean compressor oil to a new O-ring. Install the lubricated O-ring on the oil drain plug.
  11. Install the oil drain plug.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the oil drain plug to 13-15 N·m (9.4-10.8 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  13. Add oil to the compressor. Look at the information plate attached to the Seltec compressor housing.
