Power Steering Pump Replacement 5.7L

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 290570  Size: SH
  1. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  2. Remove the power steering return hose from the power steering pump (1). Refer to Power Steering Return Hose Replacement .
  3. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump (1). Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement .
  4. Remove the following components from the power steering pump (1):
  5. • The power steering pump mounting bolts (4)
    • The power steering pump front bracket (3)
  6. Remove the power steering pump (1) from the power steering pump rear bracket (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering pump (1) to the power steering pump rear bracket (2).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the following components to the power steering pump:
  4. • The power steering pump front bracket (3)
    • The power steering pump mounting bolts (4)

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump (1). Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement .
  6. Install the power steering return hose to the power steering pump (1). Refer to Power Steering Return Hose Replacement .
  7. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  8. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Power Steering Pump Replacement 3.8L

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 656031  Size: LH
  1. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  2. Remove the power steering pressure hose (6) from the power steering pump (7). Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement .
  3. Remove the power steering reservoir hose (10) from the power steering pump (7). Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Outlet Hose Replacement .
  4. Remove the power steering pump mounting nuts (8) from the power steering pump (7).
  5. Remove the power steering pump (7) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 656031  Size: LH
  1. Install the power steering pump (7) to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the power steering pump mounting nuts (8).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 30 N·m (23 lb ft).

  5. Install the power steering pressure hose (6) to the power steering pump (7). Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement .
  6. Install the power steering reservoir hose (10) to the power steering pump (7). Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Outlet Hose Replacement .
  7. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  8. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
