Removal Procedure

Caution:  When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

  1. Remove the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement .
  2. Remove the air inlet grille panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement in Body Front End.

  3. Object Number: 1233699  Size: SH
  4. Remove the center bolt (4) and remove the upper hinge (1) from the lower hinge (2), if necessary.
  5. Remove the bolts (3) from the lower hood hinge (2).
  6. Remove the lower hood hinge (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the lower hood hinge (2) to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts (3) to the lower hood hinge (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the lower hood hinge bolts to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  5. Install the upper hood hinge (1) to the lower hood hinge (2), if removed.
  6. Install the center bolt (4) to the lower hood hinge (2) and upper hood hinge (1), if removed.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the center bolt to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  8. Install the air inlet grille panel. Refer to Hood Replacement in Body Front End.
  9. Install the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement .
  10. Adjust the hood as required. Refer to Hood Adjustment .
