Do all of the radio functions operate normally?

--

Go to Radio Inoperative with Steering Wheel Controls

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. Turn the radio ON.
  3. Use the J 39200 in order to measure the voltage between the radio connector C2 terminal 14 (Pontiac) or terminal E6 (Buick) and ground. While measuring, operate each steering wheel control button.
  4. Compare each voltage with the steering wheel controls resistance/voltage chart.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

0-5 V

Go to Step 4

  1. Inspect the connections.
  2. If the connections are OK, service the radio.

If the repair complete?

Replace the steering wheel controls switches. Refer to Steering Wheel Control Switches Replacement .
