Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement Chevrolet

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  3. Remove the defroster grille. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement .
  4. Remove the end caps. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement .
  5. Remove the instrument panel trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement .
  6. Remove the instrument cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  7. Remove the HVAC control. Refer to Control Assembly Replacement in HVAC.
  8. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  9. Remove the air distribution ducts (4). Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement in Heating and Ventilation (Non - A/C).
  10. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column - Standard.
  11. Disconnect the instrument panel compartment lamp electrical connector.

  13. Remove the screws (2) from the tie bar (1).
  14. Remove the panel (3) from the tie bar (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 288324  Size: SH
  1. Install the panel (3) to the tie bar (1).
  2. Install the screws (2) to the tie bar (1).
  3. Connect the instrument panel compartment lamp electrical connector.
  4. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column - Standard.
  5. Install the air distribution ducts (4). Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement in Heating and Ventilation - (Non - A/C).
  6. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  7. Install the HVAC control. Refer to Control Assembly Replacement in HVAC.
  8. Install the instrument cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  9. Install the instrument panel trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement .
  10. Install the end caps. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement .
  11. Install the defroster grille. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement .
  12. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.

Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement Pontiac

Removal Procedure

  5. Remove the accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement .
  6. Remove the instrument cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate Bezel Replacement .
  7. Remove the HVAC control. Refer to Control Assembly Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C - Manual.
  8. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.

  10. Remove the air distribution ducts (3). Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement in Heating and Ventilation - (Non - A/C).
  11. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column - Standard.
  12. Disconnect the instrument panel compartment lamp electrical connector.

  14. Remove the screws (4) from the tie bar (2).
  15. Remove the panel (3) from the tie bar (2).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 288325  Size: SH
  1. Install the panel (3) to the tie bar (2).
  2. Install the screws (4) to the tie bar (2).
  3. Connect the instrument panel compartment lamp electrical connector.
  4. Install the following components to the steering column:
  5. • Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column - Standard.
    • The stalks
  6. Install the air distribution ducts (3). Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement in Heating and Ventilation - (Non -A/C).
  7. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  8. Install the HVAC control. Refer to Control Assembly Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C Manual.
  9. Install the instrument cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate Bezel Replacement .
  10. Install the accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement .
  11. Install the end caps. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement .
  12. Install the defroster grille. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement .
  13. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
