1	Did you review the Lighting System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?	Go to Step 2	Go to Symptoms - Lighting Systems
2	Verify that the backup lamps are always on. Does the system operate normally?	Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections	Go to Step 3
3	Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. Disconnect the Park/Neutral position switch or the Backup lamp switch. Are the backup lamps still illuminated?	Go to Step 4	Go to Step 5
4	Find and repair the short to voltage in the backup lamp feed circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs . Did you complete the repair?	Go to Step 6	--
5	Replace the Park/Neutral position switch or the Backup lamp switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement for the MVA auto transmission, Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement for the MVB auto transmission, Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement for the MVD auto transmission or Backup Lamp Switch Replacement for the MVC manual transmission or Backup Lamp Switch Replacement for the MVE manual transmission. Did you complete the repair?	Go to Step 6	--
6	Operate the system in order to verify the repair. Did you correct the condition?	System OK	Go to Step 3
