.
- Lower the sunroof to the closed position, manually using a large flat
screwdriver in the sunroof motor slot.
- Remove the sunroof
actuator (motor). Refer to
Sunroof Actuator Replacement
.
- From above the vehicle, remove the left and right side sunroof cable locator
block fasteners and remove the locator blocks.
Important: If the sunroof was locked in the open position, it may be necessary to partially
remove the copper cable tubes to pull the guide forward and expose the cable end.
If the tubes are disturbed, it will be necessary to re-seal the cable tubing pass-through
holes by working the sealer.
- Using the needle-nose pliers, lift the drive cable end out of the guide assembly
and pull the cables out of the sunroof cable tubes while holding the cable tubes
in position.
Installation Procedure
Important: Cables should be replaced if they are kinked, and cables should always be replaced
in pairs.
- While holding the cable tubes in position, push the sunroof cables into the
tubes, being careful not to kink the cables.
- Engage the cables into the guides with the cam sides of the cable ends positioned
as shown in the illustration. In the proper orientation, the lobes of the cam end
of the cable are aligned diagonally from the inboard top to the inboard bottom of
the square-shaped guide channel.
- Using the installed cables, push the guides rearward to verify the proper
orientation of the cam end. If the orientation is correct, the cam end will slide
into the guide channel, otherwise it will hang up at the entrance to the guide channel.
Important: It may be necessary to pull several inches of cable through the
tubing in order to rotate the cable end.
- Install the left and right side locator blocks.
- From inside of
the vehicle, place the flared ends of the copper and black plastic cable tubing into
the notches at the sunroof actuator motor location.
- Install the sunroof motor. Refer to
Sunroof Actuator Replacement
.
- Route the black plastic tube under the copper tube away from the roof
panel.
Important: Before installing the glass, confirm that the cable tubing pass-through hole
is sealed, and that no sealer is penetrating the pass through hole as this can restrict
the water drainage system.
- Install the sunroof glass. Refer to
Sunroof Glass Panel Replacement
.
- Check the sunroof for proper operation before installing the headliner.
