Power Steering Pump Replacement LZ9/LGD

Preliminary Procedure

Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement.

Upper Intake Manifold Cover Nut

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
25 N·m (18 lb ft)

Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Bracket Bolt

Tighten
22 N·m (16 lb ft)

Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir

Procedure

Disconnect the power steering reservoir inlet hose from the remote power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Inlet Hose Replacement.

Tip

  1. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
  2. Remove as much power steering fluid from the remote power steering fluid reservoir as possible.

Steering Pump Bolt (Qty 3)

Tighten
25 N·m (18 lb ft)

Power Steering Pump

Procedure

  1. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement.
  2. Transfer any parts as needed.
  3. After repairs, fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.

Tip
After repairs, clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 284266  Size: SH
  1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  2. Install a drain pan under the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the power steering return hose from the power steering reservoir.

  4. Object Number: 284268  Size: SH
  5. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.

  6. Object Number: 284267  Size: SH
  7. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolt.

  8. Object Number: 105222  Size: SH
  9. Remove the power steering pump from the vehicle.
  10. Remove the power steering pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement.
  11. Remove the power steering reservoir. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering reservoir. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle.
  2. Install the power steering pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement.

  3. Object Number: 105222  Size: SH
  4. Install the power steering pump to the vehicle.
  5. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 284267  Size: SH
  6. Install the power steering pump mounting bolt.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump mounting bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).


    Object Number: 284268  Size: SH
  8. Install the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pressure hose to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  10. Install the power steering return hose to the power steering reservoir.
  11. Remove the drain pan from under vehicle.
  12. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  13. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
