Removal Procedure

    Caution: Disconnect the power window switch when working inside the driver door. When operated, the Express Up/Down Feature allows the door window to move very quickly, without stopping, which could cause personal injury.

  1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  3. Remove the speaker assembly. Refer to Radio Front Side Door Speaker Replacement in Entertainment.
  4. Remove the window. Refer to Door Window Replacement .
  5. Disconnect the lock rod from the outside door handle.
  6. Disconnect the outside handle rod.
  7. Remove the 3 fasteners from the door latch assembly.

  8. Object Number: 259162  Size: SH
  9. Remove the 3 upper bolts (2) from the module (1).
  10. Loosen the 3 lower captive bolts (3).
  11. Remove the module assembly (1).
  12. Disconnect the inside door handle rods from the door latch.
  13. Lift the door latch off the retainer.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the door latch onto the retainer.
  2. Install the inside door handle and lock rode to the door latch.
  3. Install the outside door handle rod into the retainer for ease of installation.
  4. Start the fasteners in the module.
  5. Align the fasteners installed in the module with the keyhole slots in the door.

  7. Install the module assembly (1) into the door.
  8. Install the 3 upper bolts (2).
  9. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10. Tighten all 6 bolts (2,3).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the attaching bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  12. Install the 3 fasteners to the lock assembly.
  13. Tighten the lock assembly fasteners.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  15. Install the lock rods to the outside handle.
  16. Install the window. Refer to Door Window Replacement .
  17. Install the speaker assembly. Refer to Radio Front Side Door Speaker Replacement in Entertainment.
  18. Install the trim panel bracket.
  19. Install the trim panel bracket fasteners.
  20. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 9 N·m(80 lb in).

  21. Install the water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  22. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
