Pad Clip Remover
Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear seat cushion
and the seat back. Refer to the following procedures:
- Remove the carpet retainers. Refer to
Carpet Retainer Replacement
.
- Complete the following steps in order to remove the assist strap.
| Important: Do not use a tool at the rounded end of the cover. This action may cause
the retaining tabs to break.

3.1. | Use a flat bladed tool in the center of the cover in order to release
the cover. |
3.2. | Slide the covers along the strap. |
- Remove the fasteners that retain the assist strap.
- Remove the seat belt lower anchor bolt (2) from the floor.
- Carefully use the J 38778
in order to release the retainers (1) securing the trim
panel.
- Grasp the trim panel (3) and pull the panel inboard in
order to release the retainers.
- Remove the upper trim panel.
Installation Procedure
- Align the upper trim panel
retainers (1) to the holes in the body panel.
- Ensure that the seat belt (2) is pulled through the opening
in the trim panel.
- Push outboard on the trim panel in order to secure the retainers.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the anchor
bolt that secures the seat belt to the floor.
Tighten
Tighten the anchor bolt to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Install the assist strap and retaining fasteners.
Tighten
Tighten the assist strap fasteners to 1.6 N·m (14 lb in).
- Install the assist strap fastener covers.
- Install the carpet retainers. Refer to
Carpet Retainer Replacement
.
- Install the rear seat back and the seat cushion. Refer to the
following procedures:
