Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.

  1. The air bag warning indicator flashes 7 times.
  2. The audio alarm sounds for 4 to 8 seconds when the driver side seatbelt is unbuckled.
  3. The brake warning indicator illuminates for 3 to 5 seconds.
  4. The charge warning indicator is illuminated.
  5. The engine coolant temperature gauge displays the coolant temperature.
  6. The fasten belts indicator illuminates until the driver side seatbelt is buckled.
  7. The fuel gauge increases approximately ½ scale above the actual level before showing the actual level.
  8. The low oil level indicator illuminates for 3 to 5 seconds or remains illuminated if the oil level is low.
  9. The low trac indicator illuminates for 3 to 5 seconds.

  1. Set the left turn signal to the ON position.
  2. Set the left turn signal to the OFF position.
  3. Set the right turn signal to the ON position.

  2. The left turn signal and indicator turns off.
  3. The right turn signal and indicator is flashing.
  4. The right turn signal and indicator turns off.

  1. Turn the headlight switch to the HEAD position.
  2. Set the headlamp dimmer switch to the HIGH position.
  3. Turn the headlight switch to the OFF position.
  1. The beams and high beam indicator illuminate.
  2. The high beams and high beam indicator turn off.

  1. Apply the parking brake.

  1. Turn the headlamps switch to the PARK position.
  2. Adjust the IP dimmer switch to the OFF position and then to maximum brightness.

  2. The instrument cluster illumination goes to the OFF position and then to maximum brightness.

Turn the ignition switch to the bulb test position (just past the RUN position).

  1. The antilock indicator illuminates.

Start and idle the engine.

  1. The air bag indicator remains off until the accident causes the deployment or a fault is detected in the SIR system.
  2. The antilock warning indicator remains off unless a fault is detected in the ABS System.
  3. The brake warning indicator remains off unless the any of the following conditions exists:
  4. • A fault is detected in the base brakes system
    • The parking brake is engaged
    • The brake fluid level is low
  5. The charge (VOLTS) warning indicator remains off with the engine running unless a charging system fault is detected.
  6. CHG OIL SOON indicator remains off until the PCM determines that an oil change is due.
  7. The coolant temperature gauge reads the coolant temperature.
  8. The coolant temperature (HOT) warning indicator remains off unless the coolant temperature exceeds approximately 124°C (255°F).
  9. The fuel gauge reads the current fuel level.
  10. The low coolant (LOW COOLANT) warning indicator is off unless the coolant level drops below the sensor level.
  11. The low oil level indicator is off unless the oil level drops below a set level. The level is checked after the initial power up of the PCM.
  12. The oil pressure warning indicator is off unless a fault is detected.
  13. The security indicator is off unless the theft deterrent system detects a fault.
  14. The service engine soon (SERVICE ENGINE SOON) indicator is off until the PCM determines that a fault has occurred.

Fasten the seat belts.

    • The fasten belts warning indicator shuts off when the seat belt is buckled.
    • The fasten belts warning indicator stays off until the seat belt is unbuckled.

Drive the vehicle.

  1. The LOW TRAC indicator remains off unless the EBCM determines that a fault has occurred.
  2. The speedometer reads the current speed.
  3. The tachometer, if equipped, reads the current engine RPM's.

    •  Tachometer Inoperative
