Removal Procedure

  1. Block the wheels to prevent the vehicle from moving.
  2. Adjust the shift lever to FIRST position.
  3. Lower the convertible top.
  4. Tilt the steering wheel to a full down position.
  5. Remove the left and right sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement in Interior Trim.
  6. Remove the left and right windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
  7. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  8. Remove the left and right I/P trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side and Instrument Panel Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side .
  9. Remove the passenger I/P inflatable restraint module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement in SIR.
  10. Remove the left knee bolster. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Replacement .
  11. Remove the right knee bolster. Refer to Passenger Knee Bolster Replacement .
  12. Remove the knee bolster bracket. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement .
  13. Remove the center I/P trim panel. Refer to Front Floor Console Compartment Door Lock Cylinder Replacement .
  14. Remove the I/P upper trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Plate Replacement .
  15. Remove the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  16. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  17. Remove the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement in Heating, Air Conditioning and Ventilation.

  19. Remove the 9 fasteners retaining the I/P carrier to the I/P carrier support.
  20. Remove the I/P carrier assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1386606  Size: SH
  1. Position the I/P carrier assembly to the I/P structure.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the 9 fasteners that retain the I/P carrier to the I/P structure.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  5. Install the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement in Heating, Air Conditioning and Ventilation.
  6. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  7. Install the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  8. Install the I/P upper trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Plate Replacement .
  9. Install the center I/P trim panel. Refer to Front Floor Console Compartment Door Lock Cylinder Replacement .
  10. Install the knee bolster bracket. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement .
  11. Install the right knee bolster. Refer to Passenger Knee Bolster Replacement .
  12. Install the left knee bolster. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Replacement .
  13. Install the passenger I/P inflatable restraint module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement in SIR.
  14. Install the left and right I/P trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side and Instrument Panel Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side .
  15. Install the I/P upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  16. Install the left and right windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
  17. Install the left and right sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement in Interior Trim.
  18. Adjust the shift lever to the PARK position.
  19. Remove the blocks from the wheels.
  20. Close the convertible top.
