The Automatic Door Locks System Check tests the Body Control Module (BCM) for the operation of the automatic door locks. For more information regarding other BCM-controlled systems, refer to Body Control System Description in Body Control System.

  1. Remove key from the ignition key lock cylinder.
  2. Close all vehicle doors.
  3. While observing door locks, press lock then unlock on LH door lock switch.
  4. While observing door locks, press lock then unlock on RH door lock switch.

All doors lock and unlock when using either door lock switch.

  1. Lower all vehicle windows all the way down.
  2. Turn and leave the ignition switch in the off position.
  3. Open the driver's door.
  4. While observing door locks, press lock on door lock switch momentarily.
  5. Close the driver's door.
  6. Open the LR door.
  7. Reaching through driver's window opening, press and release lock on door lock switch; observe door locks.
  8. Open the RF door.
  9. While observing door locks, press and release lock on door lock switch.
  10. Close the RF door.
  11. Open the RR door.
  12. Reaching through RF window opening, press and release lock on door lock switch; observe door locks.
  13. Open the RF door.
  14. While observing door locks, press lock on door lock switch and hold for three seconds.

Lockout prevention feature:

    • Doors do not lock when pressing lock on either door lock switch with the key in the ignition key lock cylinder and a vehicle door open.
    • Doors lock when pressing lock on either door lock switch for three seconds with the key in the ignition key lock cylinder and a vehicle door open.

  1. Set the automatic door lock/unlock to mode 3. Refer to Power Door Locks Circuit Description for procedure.
  2. Close all vehicle doors.
  3. Unlock all doors.
  4. Step firmly on brake pedal.
  5. Start the engine.
  6. While observing door locks, shift out of PARK.
  7. While observing door locks, shift into PARK.
  8. Stop the engine.

Automatic door lock/unlock feature:

    • All doors lock when shifting transaxle out of PARK.
    • All doors unlock when shifting transaxle into PARK.

Automatic Door Locks Inoperative

  1. Set the automatic door lock/unlock to mode 2. Refer to Power Door Locks Circuit Description for procedure.
  2. Turn the ignition switch on.
  3. Lower all vehicle windows.
  4. Turn the ignition switch off and remove key from ignition switch.
  5. Step out of the vehicle.
  6. Close all passenger doors.
  7. Open driver's door.
  8. Press lock on LH door lock switch. Listen for 3 chimes.
  9. Close the driver's door.
  10. Within 5 seconds, open the LR door. Listen for 3 chimes.
  11. Close the LR door.
  12. Wait 5 seconds while observing the door locks.
  13. Unlock and open RF door.
  14. Press lock on RH door lock switch. Listen for 3 chimes.
  15. Close RF door.
  16. Within 5 seconds, open the RR door. Listen for 3 chimes.
  17. Close the RR door.
  18. Wait 5 seconds while observing the door locks.

Last door lock feature:

Upon pressing lock on either door lock switch with key off the ignition switch and any door open, all doors lock 5 seconds after last door is closed.
