Automatic Door Locks Inoperative RF, LR and RR Door Locks

Using a test light, connect between B+ and the BCM connector C3 terminal H by backprobing.

Is the test light on.

  1. Using a test light, connect by backprobing between the BCM connector C3 terminal H and ground.
  2. While observing the test light, press unlock momentarily on either door lock switch.

Upon pressing unlock on door lock switch, does the test light flash?

  1. Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System for service procedures.
  2. After BCM replacement, perform the Setup New BCM procedure. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.
  2. Reinstall connectors/components removed.

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.
  2. Connect scan tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC).
  3. Turn the ignition switch on.
  4. Monitor the unlock switch input on the scan tool.
  5. While observing the scan tool, press unlock on the driver's side door lock switch.

Upon pressing unlock, does the scan tool indicate unlock switch status as active (or on)?

  1. Disconnect the driver's side door lock switch.
  2. Using a test light, connect between B+ and the driver's side door lock switch harness connector terminal F.

Is the test light on?

While observing the door locks, connect momentarily a 10A fused jumper between the driver's side door lock switch harness connector terminals B and F.

Upon connecting fused jumper, do doors unlock?

Using a test light, connect between B+ and the BCM harness connector C3 terminal G by backprobing.

Is the test light on?

  1. Reconnect the door lock switch.
  2. Using a test light, connect between B+ and the BCM harness connector C1 terminal D13.
  3. While observing the test light, press unlock on door lock switch.

Upon pressing unlock, does the test light turn on?

  1. Check for a poor connection at the BCM.
  2. If connection is OK then replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System for service procedure.
  3. After replacing the BCM, perform the Setup New BCM procedure. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.

  1. Close all vehicle doors.
  2. Make sure the I/P dimmer switch is off.
  3. Turn the ignition switch on.
  4. Open then close all vehicle doors one door at a time.

Did the courtesy lights turn on with a door open and turn off with all doors closed?

  1. Make sure the I/P dimmer switch is off and all vehicle doors closed.
  2. Turn the ignition switch from on to off.
  3. While observing the courtesy lights, remove key from the ignition key cylinder.

Did the courtesy lights turn on when removing key from the ignition key cylinder?

  1. Turn the ignition switch on.
  2. Lower completely down all vehicle windows.
  3. Turn the ignition switch off and leave key in the ignition switch.
  4. Open the driver's door.
  5. While observing the door locks press lock on door lock switch momentarily.
  6. Close the driver's door.
  7. Open the LR door.
  8. Reaching through the driver's window opening press lock on door lock switch momentarily; observe the locks.
  9. Open the RF door.
  10. While observing the door locks press lock on door lock switch momentarily.
  11. Close the RF door.
  12. Open the RR door.
  13. Reaching through the RF window opening press lock on door lock switch momentarily observe the door locks.

Doors do not lock when pressing lock on either door lock switch with the key in the ignition key lock cylinder and a door open.

Do the door locks operate as described above?

The lockout prevention feature is malfunctioning due to a malfunction between the BCM and the door lock ajar switch(es). Refer to Interior Lamps System Check in Lighting Systems for diagnosis and repair of the interior lights' door lock ajar input.

The lockout prevention feature is inoperative due to a malfunction between the BCM and the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to Audible Warnings System Check in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console for the diagnosis and repair of the key in ignition reminder chime and the ignition key alarm switch.

  1. Inspect the BCM connectors for poor terminal contact.
  2. If BCM connectors are OK, then replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System for service procedures.
  3. After BCM replacement, perform the Setup New BCM procedure. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.

  1. Turn the ignition switch on.
  2. Lower completely down all vehicle windows.
  3. Turn the ignition switch off and leave key in the ignition switch.
  4. Open the driver's door.
  5. While observing the door locks press lock on door lock switch momentarily.
  6. Close the driver's door.
  7. Open the LR door.
  8. Reaching through the driver's window opening press lock on door lock switch momentarily. Observe the locks.
  9. Open the RF door.
  10. While observing the door locks press lock on door lock switch momentarily.
  11. Close the RF door.
  12. Open the RR door.
  13. Reaching through the RF window opening, press lock on door lock switch momentarily; observe the door locks.

Doors do not lock when pressing lock on either door lock switch with the key in the ignition key lock cylinder and a door open.

Do the door locks operate as described above?

  1. Open the driver's door.
  2. Fully insert the key in the ignition key lock cylinder.
  3. Leave the ignition switch off.
  4. While observing the door locks, press and hold for three seconds the driver's door lock switch.
  5. Unlock the doors using driver's door lock switch.
  6. Close the driver's door.
  7. Open the RF door.
  8. While observing the door locks, press and hold for three seconds the passenger door lock switch.

All door lock after holding lock on either door lock switch for three seconds with the key in the ignition.

Do the door locks operate as described above?

  1. Close all vehicle doors.
  2. Make sure the I/P dimmer switch is off.
  3. Turn the ignition switch on.
  4. Open then close all vehicle doors, one door at a time.

Did the courtesy lights turn on with a door open and turn off with all doors closed?

  1. Close all vehicle doors.
  2. Make sure all door are unlocked.
  3. Start the engine.
  4. Step firmly and hold the brake pedal.
  5. While observing the door locks, shift transaxle into DRIVE.
  6. While observing the door locks, shift transaxle into PARK.
  7. Stop the engine.

Door locks lock when shifting transaxle out of PARK and door locks unlock when shifting transaxle into PARK.

Do the door locks operate as described above?

  1. Turn the ignition switch on.
  2. Lower all vehicle windows.
  3. Turn the ignition switch off and remove key from the ignition key lock cylinder.
  4. Step out of the vehicle.
  5. Make sure all passenger doors are closed (except driver's door).
  6. Press lock on driver's door lock switch. Listen for 3 chimes.
  7. Close the driver's door.
  8. Within 5 seconds open the LR door. Listen for 3 chime.
  9. Close the LR door.
  10. Wait 5 seconds while observing the door locks.
  11. Unlock and open RF door.
  12. Press unlock on RH door lock switch.
  13. Press lock on door lock switch. Listen for 3 chimes.
  14. Close RF door.
  15. Within 5 seconds open the RR door. Listen for 3 chimes.
  16. Close the RR door.
  17. Wait 5 seconds while observing the door locks.

Upon pressing lock on either door lock switch and no key inserted in the ignition key lock cylinder, all doors lock 5 seconds after last door is closed.
