The Audible Warning Diagnostic System Check tests the Body Control Module (BCM) for the operation of the audible warnings. For more information regarding other BCM-controlled systems, refer to Body Control System Description in Body Control System.

Key in ignition reminder:

  1. Place the key in the ignition cylinder.
  2. Make sure the ignition switch is off.
  3. Open, then close the driver's door.
  4. Turn the ignition switch on.
  5. Open, then close the driver's door again.

The key in ignition reminder sounds at a rate of 150 chimes per minute when these conditions are met:

    • The driver's door is open.
    • The key is fully inserted in the ignition cylinder.
    • The ignition switch in the off or accessory position.

Fasten seat belt reminder:

  1. Release (unfasten) the driver's seat belt.
  2. Turn the ignition switch from the off to the on position for 7 seconds.
  3. Fasten the driver's seat belt.
  4. Turn the ignition switch from the off to the on position again.
    • The fasten seat belt reminder sounds at a rate of 50 chimes per minute for 6 seconds when the ignition switch is turned from the off to the on position with the driver's seat belt unfastened.
    • The fasten seat belt reminder does not sound when the ignition switch is turned from the off to the on position with the driver's seat belt fastened.

Parking brake reminder:

  1. Apply the parking brake
  2. Step and hold firmly on the brake pedal.
  3. Close all the vehicle doors.
  4. Start the engine.
  5. Shift transaxle out of PARK.
  6. Release the parking brake.
  7. Shift transaxle into PARK.
  8. Turn the ignition switch off.

The parking brake reminder sounds at a rate of 200 chimes per minute when these conditions are met:

    • The parking brake is applied.
    • The transaxle is shifted out of PARK or NEUTRAL.
    •  Chime Inoperative
    •  Chime Always On

Turn the signal reminder:

Test drive the vehicle for at least 1.2 km (¾ mile) with the turn signal switch on (either left or right turn position).

The turn signal reminder sounds only for each flash of turn signal lights when the turn signal switch is either in the left or right turn position and the vehicle has traveled a distance of 1.2 km (¾ mile).

Headlamps on reminder:

  1. Make sure the headlamp switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Open, then close the driver's door.
  3. Turn the headlamp switch to the PARK or HEAD position.
  4. Open, then close the driver's door again.
  5. Turn the ignition switch on.
  6. Open, then close the driver's door again.
  7. Turn the headlamp switch to the OFF position.

The headlamps on reminder sounds at a rate of 200 rates per minute when these conditions are met:

    • The driver's door is open.
    • The headlamp switch is in either PARK or HEAD position.
    • The ignition switch is in the off or accessory position.
