  1. Visually inspect the door lock fuse. If the fuse is blown, inspect for shorts in the following circuits:
  2. • CKT 294
    • CKT 295
  3. Verify that ground G201 is clean and tight.
  4. Inspect the relays.
  5. Inspect for mechanical binds in the door lock system if the following conditions occur:
  6. • One or more of the door lock motors do not operate properly.
    • The other door lock motors function normally.
  7. If a motor's internal circuit breaker trips, the circuit breaker will not reset until the voltage is removed from the motor.
  8. Refer to the repair procedures in Doors in order to access the power door lock system.
  9. Inspect for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation.
  10. A broken wire inside of the insulation may cause a system failure but prove good in a continuity/voltage test.

  11. Inspect for proper installation of the aftermarket electronic equipment.
  12. Improper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment affects the integrity of other systems.

  1. Remove the key from the ignition key lock cylinder.
  2. Close all of the vehicle doors.
  3. Observe the door locks while pressing LOCK then UNLOCK on the LEFT door lock switch.
  4. Observe the door locks while pressing LOCK then UNLOCK on the RIGHT door lock switch.

All of the doors lock and unlock with either door lock switch.

  1. Lower all of the windows.
  2. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
  3. Open the drivers door.
  4. Observe the door locks while pressing LOCK on the door lock switch momentarily.
  5. Close the drivers door.
  6. Open the LR door.
  7. Reach through the drivers door window opening. Observe the door locks while pressing then releasing the LOCK button on the door lock switch.
  8. Open the RF door.
  9. Observe the door locks while pressing then releasing the LOCK button on the door lock switch.
  10. Close the RF door.
  11. Open the RR door.
  12. Reach through the RF window opening. Observe the door locks while pressing then releasing the LOCK button on the door lock switch.
  13. Open the RF door.
  14. Observe the door locks while pressing the LOCK button on the door lock switch and hold for 3 seconds.
  15. Observe the door locks while pressing then releasing the UNLOCK button of the RFA transmitter, if equipped.

The lockout prevention feature is activated if the following conditions exist:

    • The doors do not lock when pressing LOCK on any door lock switch with the key in the ignition key lock cylinder and a vehicle door open.
    • The doors lock when pressing LOCK on either door lock switch for 3 seconds with the key in the ignition key lock cylinder and a vehicle door open.
    • The doors lock with the RFA transmitter command with the ignition OFF and a vehicle door open.

  1. Complete the following steps in order to change the lock mode procedure:
  2. 1.1. Press and hold the LOCK button on the power door lock switch for 10 seconds.
    1.2. Count the number of chimes that you hear. The number of chimes indicates in which mode the vehicle is engaged.
    1.3. Press and hold LOCK on the power door lock switch until the indicated number of chimes sounds in order to change to the following modes:
       • 2 chimes for Mode 2
       • 3 chimes for Mode 3
       • 4 chimes for Mode 4
    1.4. Repeat Step 1.1 until 2 chimes are heard . This indicates Mode 2.

    Important: At this point, the driver's door should unlock only if the transaxle is shifted to PARK and the ignition is in the OFF position.

  3. Set the automatic door lock/unlock to mode 2.
  4. Close all the vehicle doors.
  5. Unlock all the doors.
  6. Step firmly on the brake pedal.
  7. Start the engine.
  8. Shift the vehicle out of PARK while observing the door locks.
  9. Shift the vehicle into PARK while observing the door locks.
  10. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.

The automatic door lock/unlock feature will activate when the following conditions exist:

    • All of the doors lock when you shift the transaxle out of the PARK position.
    • The drivers door unlocks only when you shift the transaxle to the PARK and the ignition is turned OFF.

Power Door Locks Inoperative - All Doors and Switches

  1. Set the automatic door lock/unlock to Mode 1.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  3. Lower all the vehicle windows.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and remove the key.
  5. Step out of the vehicle.
  6. Close all the passenger doors.
  7. Open the drivers door.
  8. Press LOCK on the left door lock switch. Listen for 3 chimes.
  9. Close the drivers door.
  10. Within 5 seconds, open the LR door.
  11. Close the LR door.
  12. Wait for 5 seconds while observing the door locks.
  13. After 5 seconds, all of the doors should lock.

  14. Unlock and open the RF door.
  15. Press LOCK on the right door lock switch.
  16. Close the RF door.
  17. Within 5 seconds, open the RR door. Listen for 3 chimes.
  18. Close the RR door.
  19. Wait for 5 seconds while observing the door locks.
  20. After 5 seconds, all of the doors should lock.

The last door lock feature will activate when the following conditions exist:

    • Press the LOCK button on any door lock switch with the ignition key removed and any door open.
    • All of the doors lock 5 seconds after the last door is closed.
