Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the inner energy absorber pad. Refer to Rear Side Door Inner Panel Lower Energy Absorber Replacement .
  3. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  4. Remove the outer energy absorber pad. Refer to Outer Rear Energy Absorber Pad Replacement .
  5. Remove the rear door inner sealing strip. Refer to Rear Door Window Belt Inner Sealing Strip Replacement .
  6. Remove the stationary window molding. Refer to Window Molding Replacement - Rear Door Stationary .
  7. Remove the rear door frame molding. Refer to Rear Door Frame Applique Replacement .
  8. Remove the window. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Replacement .
  9. Remove the outside door handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Outside Handle Replacement .
  10. Remove the inside door handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Inside Handle Replacement .
  11. Remove the lock. Refer to Rear Door Lock Replacement .
  12. Remove the door window weatherstrip. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Weatherstrip Replacement
  13. Remove the window regulator. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Regulator Replacement .
  14. Disconnect the wiring harness.
  15. Remove the door side molding. Refer to Body Side Moldings in Exterior Trim.
  16. Remove the door finish panel. Refer to Door Lower Finish Panel Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  17. Remove the sealing strip. Refer to Rear Side Door Bottom Auxiliary Sealing Strip Replacement .
  18. Remove the conduit. Refer to Rear Side Door Conduit Replacement .
  19. Support the door.
  20. Remove the intermediate door hinge bolts.
  21. Remove the door.

Installation Procedure

  1. Use the aid of a helper in order to install the door.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: Use Loctite® Blue GM P/N 12345382 or equivalent prior to installing fasteners.

  3. Install the intermediate door hinge bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the intermediate door hinge bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  5. Remove the support.
  6. Install the conduit. Refer to Rear Side Door Conduit Replacement .
  7. Install the sealing strip. Refer to Rear Side Door Bottom Auxiliary Sealing Strip Replacement .
  8. Connect the wiring harness.
  9. Install the window regulator. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Regulator Replacement .
  10. Install the door window weatherstrip. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Weatherstrip Replacement
  11. Install the lock. Refer to Rear Door Lock Replacement .
  12. Install the inside door handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Inside Handle Replacement .
  13. Install the outside door handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Outside Handle Replacement .
  14. Install the window. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Replacement .
  15. Install the rear door frame molding. Refer to Rear Door Frame Applique Replacement .
  16. Install the stationary window molding. Refer to Window Molding Replacement - Rear Door Stationary .
  17. Install the rear door inner sealing strip. Refer to Rear Door Window Belt Inner Sealing Strip Replacement .
  18. Install the outer energy absorber pad. Refer to Outer Rear Energy Absorber Pad Replacement .
  19. Install the inner energy absorber pad. Refer to Rear Side Door Inner Panel Lower Energy Absorber Replacement .
  20. Install the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  21. Install the trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  22. Adjust the door. Refer to Rear Door Adjustment .
  23. After the door is in its adjusted position, install the door finish panel. Refer to Door Lower Finish Panel Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  24. Install the door side moldings. Refer to Body Side Moldings in Exterior Trim.
